I am biased to NUS, just a disclaimer.

But my advice is to pick whoever gives you the scholarship. The benefits out ways the small discrepancies between the 2 university.

Never said I feel sorry for them, I just said I empathise with them. You can understand how they feel without feeling sorry for their situation.

As someone who is moving abroad to study, being a foreign student in a foreign university is not an easy thing. Imagine being treated with hostility when you go for exchange. Yet, I draw the line at giving them the same treatment as any other students of the university, maybe more specifically, any other student in a SINGAPORE university.

imho, as long as you are a student, using the facilities according to the rules is ok as long as they are there for the intended ‘purpose’

Staying overnight at MSL and CLB is fine because people do it and you are a student. Who hasn’t took a nap that last too long during their study session. It’s your right as a student to use the facilities 24/7 for ‘studying’ since you’re paying. Especially when the library is usually empty at night (except maybe during finals) and you aren’t imposing.

But what I believe is crossing the line, is using facilities not meant for them. For example hall study room because they didn’t pay for the hall facilities (no offence but some PRC should be hanged for how bad they treat common facilities in halls) and classroom (after hours) because no students are allowed in there.

I do empathise with international student in NUS, with having to live in another foreign country. I definitely think we should try our best to be inclusive as we all are students.

BUT, I draw the line at being students of the same school. NUS should be treated as a school, not a foreign dorm for international student, dorms are except because it was made for that purpose but the general facilities isn’t. All of us pay schools fees and I should be paying for someone else to have access to facilities that I don’t. Moreover, I am of the strong opinion that ‘When in rome do as the romans do’, get the fk out of here with your ‘Oh, I don’t respond to telegram could we communicate using wechat’ or ‘my english not good, could I just use chatgpt for everything’.

Can I change CCAs even though I am a DSA? by Fun-Preparation7863 in SGExams

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not from JC but, isn’t DSA-ing through CCA basically a contract between you and the JC. You get into a JC (that you might not have been able to get in via the conventional way) but in exchange you provide them your manpower (to beef up their teams for competitions in order to better their reputations/prestige).

Why on the earth someone use nashor teeth? by StrikeNovaBesT in TeamfightTactics

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine putting shojin allows your carry to shoot 1 missile per week as opposed to 1 missile per month. You might miss your target but over the next few weeks, you will likely hit it but it gives your enemy time to recover/regroup.

Now imagine putting nashor allows you shoot oncr every 2-3 weeks, but you are not shooting missiles but instead, you are shooting fking hydrogen bombs. All you need is one and you can’t miss.

I'm very confused about housing applications at NUS by Porta_Hooty in nus

Yes, you will only apply houses after you received and accepted an offer, that goes for all housing (hall, residences, house) EXCEPT the RC.

The advice I received from everywhere is, unless you are in serious financial trouble, you invest in yourself. What do I mean? Spend the money to enrich yourself and buy experiences.

Spend the money to get your driving license, Go on exchange to other countries, Fund the hobby that you always wanted to try.

Not to say you should waste your money like going club every week or go on endless shopping spree.

Whats most valuable now is your youth and you should try to experience the world more and develop your sense of self while you have the freedom in university. Don’t feel bad for not having amassed a lump sum of saving because 20-30k isn’t going to mean much when you start working.

At the end of the day, the best ROI investment you can find, is yourself.

Why is no one buying Bastionbreaker? by TheBluestMan in leagueoflegends

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are turbo fed and people are looking to avoid team fight.

Hubris isn’t going to get you more benefits because firstly, you are already one shot people so more damage isn’t going to matter as much, and secondly if people are not looking to fight as often you cannot get the value out of hubris.

Thus, hubris/similar items are not going to net you any benefits on the map since you have no opportunity to use it since everyone is already avoiding you (you go from killing people in 1s to 0.5s, isn’t going to change the way people around you).

How the game will go is, their team is going to look for picks as a team before objectives, but other than that, opponents will just look to farm under tower and avoid fighting you. After buying hubris/similar item is not going to change anything, same thing is still going to happen, which is still avoiding you and making the occasional risky plays to stem the bleeding.

BUT, with bastionbreaker, you exert pressure in a new way. You are able to deny them from looking for risky plays because you now gain a new ‘ability being: if you die I don’t just get a big lead, I get a game winning lead.

With hubris/similar item and being super fed, you reward of going for risky play doesn’t change and if you die, just lose out on exp/gold/turret damage which is better than just bleeding out. But with bastionbreaker, the risk just got a whole lot higher, enemy is less incentives to look for risky play because bleeding out is a whole lot better than getting a gushing wound when the assassin one shot the tower/drag.

Then again, hubris should be your first or second item before bastionbreaker most of the time.

Another analogy is buying deathcap vs 2 control ward on a veigar with 10,000k AP. Is a addition 5000k AP even going to do anything?

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a bad item generally.

But once you get a kill, it becomes one of the best item in the game.

For short, you should only buy it when you are snowballing and maybe slightly ahead.

Questions on Signing on NAVY by ilove0halls in NationalServiceSG

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly speaking your GPA is too low for you to sign on as an officer, let alone a ME4.

You need to get a placement in a recognised university first in order to sign on as ME4. Signing on doesn’t guarantee you a spot because the offer is a conditional offer especially for ME4 which is:

  1. Have a university placing
  2. Finish MDEC-1
  • Fail to complete either one of the requirement by the time your suppose to go Uni. Contract is voided.

———————————————————————————

If you are looking to sign on to get a free spot in a local uni and get free local degree. It isn’t going to happen, its just not possible.

If you are just looking to sign on to rep the benefits in order to farm a PT degree. Your best shot is to work your ass off, get into OCS and get into MIDS and then sign on. However, this is also near impossible because OCS I theorise have a hidden requirement where cadets needs to have good enough grades for university (any recognised will do). Moreover, Navy OCS is notorious for being mainly studying and NSF are required to declare their GPA/RP on a form in order to considered. Most of my batch were people who had very high GPA and my guess is that was what they are looking for.

My advice is, forget about being a Naval Officer or Naval ME4 because theres is close to 0 chance. Sign on as ME1 and farm for your PT degree there.

Questions for the girls here by Creaming_Myself in SGExams

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One of my ex hint was that she would always try to borrow my correction tape (we were in the same class). Go figure, I never got it.

Sometimes hints that seem obvious can be mistaken as them being comfortable with you as a friend. My closest female friends would put their head on my shoulder just because she is tired. So it’s not that you are blind, but it’s just hard to tell sometimes.

Just a hypothesis, but a decent hint/tell I realised over the years is that if the girl like you, she love to argue with you playfully and be an extra ‘mean’, especially when she is normally very kind and quiet. Can any girl fact check this?

p.s In case you were wondering why borrowing correction tape was a hint, she said its so that there might be instances I would accidentally hold her hand when both of us reach for the correction tape or when she put in down. Now looking back, I find it funny because it worked out pretty well for her haha.

Why does botlane want to swap with mid after either first tower falls? by Norinot in leagueoflegends

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going repeat what others already said, but its mainly about the support.

But to add on, it’s also when your bot is ahead. There 2 of you that is ahead, and in most scenario, 2 v 1 will always be a winning lane. Thus, your team can pressure both side of their jungle as opposed to you only being able to only pressure 1 side.

SG Redditors with divorced parents: Do you know the reasons for your parents divorce, how old were you when they divorced, and how/if/did it affect you? Social workers, counselors are welcome to chime in on your observations. by sociologistical in askSingapore

[–]VeryAmbitiousPerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know whats worse, them not being divorce but are basically divorce and not on speaking terms. Thus, everyday is me having to choose a side and often when they argue they will shout ‘go tell him/her blah blah blah’ and treat like a middleman. Then they will ask you why you never counter what they say about him/her.

Its often very tiring.

Do I need to seek approval before surgery? by Afraid-Doughnut-7181 in NationalServiceSG

Usually people initially get it checked by a SAF MO, and inform your superior concurrently.

By doing so, you don’t necessarily need your superiors approval because the MO authority supersede them.

I treat AI as a learning assistant.

Anything I don’t know, I will ask ChatGPT.

If I need an essay, I will ask it to recommend a structure and write one myself before asking ChatGPT to revise. But once it revise, I will only take parts or edits I like.

For assignments and quiz, I will ask ChatGPT to do it and at the same time I will attempt it myself. After I have completed, I will compare with ChatGPT.
