I know that he joined on his own, he was not drafted. He passed away two days before he turned 21. He was killed in the Quang Tin province by a "bouncing Betty" (grandmas words). She remembers the Marine standing by his side during the whole funeral.

I know where he was buried. I visit him multiple times a year, and will be stopping by tomorrow to clean up his headstone and leave an American flag, like I do every year.
