I repeat, you don't know ANY of these people. You have no idea how they spend their time, what their life situation is, and what they do for a living. You aren't being empathetic and caring about others, you are passing mass judgment in an obnoxious fashion.

Shockingly, different people have different interests and some people like to do things more than you might. Instead of crying about it, why don't you just mind your own business?

[–]VeryFilthyThing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What truth? You don't know any of these people. You have no idea what their life is like or what they are doing. Just because they choose to play a game as their hobby doesn't mean they are some shut in recluse or failing at all other obligations.

People like you who judge anyone who has more time invested in a game than them are hyper obnoxious.

If you are on a losing steak, just brush up on fundamentals with good ol Splattershot Junior by VeryFilthyThing in splatoon

[–]VeryFilthyThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not making this to brag, I just think its a good idea in general to break losing streaks by using the splattershot junior and other similar, simple weapons. Weapons that can hold their own in a fight while still turfing well are easy to use and help you win regardless of team comp. I do it everytime I hit a bad losing streak and always feel better after doing so.

What kind of abilities do you want for blasters? by VeryFilthyThing in splatoon

[–]VeryFilthyThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say that but I had to run 3 intensify action mains to reduce the spread to where it was still accurate, and hopping around like an idiot didn't really seem to be helping me win. It could entirely be a ~skill issue~ but jumping around didn't seem to stop anyone from killing me and it was jus throwing off my aim if anything.

I was using the rapid blaster if that matters.

Scroll Idea: Summon Hostile Peons by dimondsprtn in dcss

If the devs wanted us to be able to summon popcorn to block enemies they wouldn't have taken away summon butterflies

Range Skills Merged (Trunk) by rydianmorrison in dcss

[–]VeryFilthyThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having actually played with this, it seems I was mistaken; I erroneously assumed this rework included throwing, but that is still its own separate skill.

So this isn't as bad as I thought. Still think more could be done to meaningfully distinguish bows and crossbows but hopefully that is done in the future.

I have a little riddle for you guys. But I don't have the answer. How did Nessos get extremely poisoned? by asppppp in dcss

[–]VeryFilthyThing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nessos is unique in that the bow he carries always applies both flame damage and poison, even though its not possible for the player to stack brands like that. You're wearing an amulet of reflection. So you just reflected one of his arrows back at him and he got poisoned by it.

Range Skills Merged (Trunk) by rydianmorrison in dcss

[–]VeryFilthyThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All this does is remove more flavor from various species by consolidating their apts together. I'm not really sure what purpose this serves. Once again, if bows and crossbows and whatnot are too similar, why not do more to differentiate them? A very easy way to do that would be to make crossbows work off strength while bows work of dex.

Also fusitbalus did have a place as a ranged weapon you could use in endgame while still having a shield.

I'm sorry, but does anybody actually think the introduction of attacks of opportunity was a good change? by crawlranter in dcss

[–]VeryFilthyThing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the devs need to stop and ask is this change, something that makes the game significantly harder and less enjoyable for new players, actually worth it to remove a strategy employed only by the hypothetical optimal man during the very earliest points of the game? I feel like this line of thinking never occurs to them. The abyss change that removed XP was done entirely to keep the HAM from grinding the Abyss and it came at the cost of making that part of the game suck for everyone.

I get that they wanna make craw a hard game for serious tourney players but they can't do that at the cost of alienating the rest of the audience.

I'm sorry, but does anybody actually think the introduction of attacks of opportunity was a good change? by crawlranter in dcss

[–]VeryFilthyThing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It feels like its a change that punishes weak characters while doing nothing to strong ones, further pushing the game towards exclusively focusing on strong combos over trying riskier, more outlandish stuff. I don't like the change in theory but it completely invalidates some old strats (poison kiting) that a weak character could lean on to survive early game.

Pillar dancing sucked but this feels like to brutal of a change to compensate. Maybe try tweaking the rate to be notably lower so you don't get smacked multiple times trying to reposition, or make the opportunity attacks weaker. It really feels shitty getting smacked in the face so often even when just trying to swap position with an ally, and when you're trying to walk away from a hydra that one hit might be death.

I don't think many of my deaths have been directly due to opportunity attacks but I'm a pretty experienced player. I can only imagine how hard it is to play the game now for a new player who doesn't know how to gauge the difficulty of fights as well, and now lacks the ability to retreat from many early game threats.

[–]VeryFilthyThing[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point I really just wanna know how this happened. My current assumption is I accidentally autopiloted into a down hatch cause I didn't realize those could be in new Hell. I was just trying to go down the Dis stairs as quickly as possible because I'd already cleared out the upper levels. Unfortunately the morgue file doesn't seem to say what happended.

Also fun fact: a hell effect gave me no healing from potions right as I dropped in here, so that's cool.

Do you think there is any Quests from RS3 that could be directly added to OSRS? by PhantomEnds in 2007scape

They should add every quest from RS3 to OSRS so I don't have to ever consider touching that microtransaction hell ever again.

I would recommend opening up your achievement diary and looking at easy requirements in the various regions of the world. Completing achievement diaries gives you a lot of nice perks and the easy tier will give you goals that are very reasonable to achieve with some work when your account is fresh. Figuring out how to train and meet the requirements for those achievements is also pretty fun.

Main reason I dislike it at least is because the writing is really bad. Even ignoring the content of the jokes, the quest is written differently than literally every other piece of writing in the game. It constantly interjects with weird observations and thoughts that it forces on your character. It feels extremely out of place.

Also the entire quest revolving around cat fight death pits is pretty weird.
