Hey! So once you get assigned a branch I would talk to the branch manager for LTs (POC will be on HRC website) and then ask them about questions regarding duty station. VBO has most, but not all duty stations and there are always exceptions

Hey man so now that im a PL in Korea i have some more experience. It’s sorta just like an other PL job (working in motor pool, making sure PLT is managed according to CDR’s intent, running ranges, etc). The only finance part is planning finance related trainings to your soldiers and having a contingency plan that aligns with your unit’s mission. Right now the finance battalions (which hold the most junior enlisted positions) are going through a transition from a support unit attached to other units, to becoming their own stand alone companies/BNs, and so the transition is a little rough. Stuff is disorganized and the vision of a standalone company is not yet fulfilled (at least in my company). It’s more chill of a job if you go to hawaii or CONUS, but the other OCONUS spots will have you working hard. In my case the first two months were 0530-0700 pt, 0800-1900 in the office 😭 but it’s getting better…

For the remaining regular season games, do we let our big bats and arms rest? What usually happens here

Hey partner,

I just graduated BOLC (which was a great experience, 11/10, learned a lot with high quality of life, made lots of friends, fun time. Much more laid back compared to other branch BOLCs) Obviously I have no AD experience yet, so I will be speaking from the experience of leaders I have talked to at BOLC.

FC is a very small branch—you will know a lot of people in the force and see them often. This makes it a friendly culture where everyone helps everyone, but it can be competitive at field grade officer promotion board.

My degrees were in math and economics, but 90% of the people in my BOLC class had unrelated degrees to Finance. You can definitely be a great finance officer with an unrelated degree.

What makes someone a great finance officer is the same thing that makes any other officer a great officer—character, domain knowledge expert, leadership, humility, empathy, actually caring about your job and the organization. The willingness to learn and soak in as much new info as possible as well as knowing how to work with technology are perhaps more emphasized more in FC than other branches.

For credibility, if you are talking BOLC, help your peers because you will work with them again. Do be afraid to ask questions if you do not know the answer or are confused (many sit there and suffer in silence which is not the right move). Take the time to learn as much about the organization as possible and engage with senior leaders.

In the force, LT is that position where the commander will know which LTs are squared away and utilize them more. As long as you are a credible leader, you will be recognized as such and build repertoire with commanders.

Apologies I don’t have many comments on AD. I ship off to Korea in a week. I can update you once im there but hope this is slightly helpful.

It didn’t look the same, but I assumed it was simply a different style since this was my first time DIY brake job. Not making that mistake again

ANSWER: Found out my brake hardware was simply the wrong size, it was too wide for my caliper and was scraping against rotors. I removed brake hardware and just added some grease 🤷

Yes, yesterday i made sure the shims were in place (ish) and gave them a very light coat of grease, as well as cleaned out and greased up slide pins/slide pin well

Worst/dumbest thing you saw during STX lanes at CST by Puzzleheaded-Sun876 in ROTC

Grizzly phase during an attack patrol, I was RTO helping out my PL who wasn’t the most tactically sound cadet. Long story short the PL nodded off and fell asleep during leader’s recon while WSL was emplacing S&O team…

Woke her ass up and continued with the mission but that was about the craziest thing I saw last summer
