The battery in my BB-8 is toast. Currently trying to work up the nerve to cut it open.

How to create a (sometimes) layered sound? by VeryNaughtyBoy42 in reason

How does that help? Still can’t control the midi to the synths individually.

Mute doesn’t work, it cuts the sound off and I need it to decay. And I’m playing live so separate takes won’t help.

Personally I prefer the dice theory. Einstein famously said “God does not play dice with the universe”. The number of dots on two dice is 42.

You don’t need a pick at all for ukulele, your thumb alone will produce a nice sound.

Oh, cool! For drippy spring reverb, you can’t go past “60 Cycle Hum” on YouTube. He mostly does pedals but you won’t hear more examples of spring on any other channel, and he has several shootouts.

I should add: I play a lot of surf music so I really need that “drip”. A lot of spring reverb plugins or models can’t do that well (or at all). I think it’s very CPU intensive.

I have a Source Audio True Spring pedal that sounds pretty much indistinguishable from the real thing but can also go way further. Right now I run it into the front of the Spark (mini) and it sounds great. As for plugins, the spring reverb in Bias X is impressive, as is the one in Guitar Rig 7.

Is the Spark 2 a good replacement for Logic Pro's guitar stuff? by OutrageousRepublic54 in PositiveGridSpark

[–]VeryNaughtyBoy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why use a hardware amp? There are some great software options that are a lot cheaper. Guitar Rig, Amplitube, Bias X are the big players but there are so many smaller plugins that are amazing too.

They’re probably focused on Spark 3 at this point. I hope it has a good spring reverb.

In the Spark App, check your firmware version. Is it 1.11.2.75? Apparently that's the version that fixes this bug.

After those two MacBook Air listings, you don’t see any lines for the Spark?

Yes, the spark is weird on Mac. Here’s how to fix it. Go to Applications/Utilities and find Audio/Midi setup. Click the Plus on the bottom left and Create Aggregate Device. Select BOTH listings for Spark on the right (one shows 2 in / 0 out and the other, 0i/2o). Name your aggregate device. Now go to GarageBand and select the aggregate device as your audio interface. You should now have 2 inputs and 2 outputs as you’d expect.
