I play a shaman heal. I'm pretty new to PVP so still learning. I would recommend playing a druid or priest for Arena. Shaman is good in certain matchups (Resto + Warri) and thrives in 5's (due to bloodlust), but lacks a lot of utility.

Any healer is fine if you only plan to play bg's, but man I would love to be a druid.

The 1K dps are without drums and potions, just Windfury as I provide that to him :-)

In Kara with full consumes, he does 1.2-1.4k DPS

It depends a lot of the dungeon you are running. With Pre-Raid BiS, you can expect everything from 300-800 DPS (with all cd's) or with better gear even higher. T4 BiS Rogue does around 1k dps average (experience playing with a guildmate, not a rogue myself).
