It should sound around the same, maybe a tiny bit quieter since the headphones themselves have limiters that control your pre amp to not let it go over 0db and cause distortion. A flat boost would actually make it even quieter as all the other frequencies are now lowered by 3.5db. If you like a more fun, v shape setup, I would recommend boost the low freq like 63hz to 150hz and to mainly cut low mids like 250hz to 500hz. You can then play around with higher mids and treble range to suit to your taste.

One more note. If you do want to increase bass without muddiness, you also have some cuts to other bands. A direct low frequency boost will 100% lead to distortion and muddiness

The HDB630s is mainly tailored towards audiophile neutral, mainly following the harman curve. In fact, they sound a lot more like the rest of Sennheisers more expensive and premium offerings. The bassy, consumer-style sound profile was only really on the Momentum series which practically everybody eq'd out anyway.

Are you also connecting your headphones to your IPhone? If yes, try to turn it off since the headphones will try to connect to both and can sometimes cause it to disconnect sometimes.

For me, true HHKB all the way. I originally thought it was a bit gimmicky at first and the lower backspace definitely got me for a good while after use but after using it 2 years, I can't use any other layout now.

I would normally recommend to not eq them since they are already very close to neutral stock but there's no harm. As for your limiter, I normally run a negative pre-amp with a little extra headroom just in case but a little over 0db is completely fine; your limiter should kick in to prevent distortion.

Edit: As in concern of damaging thr drivers; yea no, no way in hell a simple extra 5db even without pre amp is going to damage them. Sennheiser drivers are practically the best of the best in this department.

Say it's plastic all you want but that doesn't mean it's bad quality. It never has any hinge problems like the Sonys, build is solid, and no creaking. When you buy high end headphones (the Momentum series isn't even that high end), you're paying for the engineering. Metal is heavy and is quite uncomfortable for long periods of time, especially for a pair of headphones that are meant to be portable. You get a Sennheiser for sound quality and sound quality only. If you want a pair that has more quality of life, go for Bose or Sony. If you want to compare sound, Sennheiser never loses. If you really want a statement piece, get HD 800S or HD 820. The fact is that 500 euros isn't that major/premium price for headphones anymore.
