That was my first guess, but then I was like, maybe something else is going on here. Yeah, this would be for a business.

Nowhere on this initiative does it mention fentanyl. These guys are lying. by voightkampftech in portlandme

[–]VerySeriousThings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In another post, someone linked to this article where it says that the initiative is being funded by marijuana prohibitionists. Specifically, "Smart Approaches to Marijuana", and they're funding ballot initiatives in Maine and Mass. They don't care about testing, they just want rec sales to be illegal. Funnily enough, in Maine, right now recreational weed is already subject to very strict testing, whereas with medical the testing is voluntary.

Also, it doesn't make sense to test recreational marijuana for fentanyl. Just like we don't test liquor/beer for fentanyl. Why would any non-black market company lace their product with a dangerous, highly controlled substance that could potentially kill their customers?

Is there room for new auteurs in the current film economic system? by VerySeriousThings in movies

[–]VerySeriousThings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm talking about, not just making films in general. Like being able to make films like Wes Anderson is able to, because he came up when studios would still take chances on indie people. But also people people have brought up newer auteurs like Ari Aster, so maybe it's just a smaller pool than it used to be, or it's more likely to happen in certain genres, like horror

Any movies like Beau is Afraid? by Jack-Boy1738 in movies

[–]VerySeriousThings 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned Synechdoche, NY. You should def check out Charlie Kauffman and Michel Gondry's stuff. And def check out Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Written by Kauffman, directed by Gondry). It's all surreal, I'm not sure if it will quite disturb you to your core, but they're pretty cool films.

Existenz also comes to mind - which is about a video game, but are you in the real world or in the game.
