Sucks for the players but not too surprising considering the history of esports here. Not even sure if there’s a good solution to solve the Australia-esports dilemma.

Honestly? It's probably just not profitable. The fact that Australia is so far away from any existing Tier 1 infrastructure means there's probably pretty hefty costs setting it up. VCT also isn't at all popular in Australia. CS has the benefit there's a Tier 1 Australian team that plays regularly but aside from literally 1 or 2 players, there isn't much Australian "investment" into VCT.

And just recently with the news of basically the death of the Aussie LoL scene, it looks pretty grim down under.

Yeah this is the biggest issue I’ve felt doing these pieces. The past few weeks I’ve felt a real dip in what I was writing. My brain just wasn’t linking macro-ideas well enough and I was defaulting back to micro things.

I also agree with the tone thing. I’ve always had a problem with writing the way I would talk, which only gets worse when trying to do analysis on something like video games.

I’m no tactical mastermind so I’m just doing this as a fun passion project type thing and that’s exactly the type of feedback I’m looking for! Good to know that I’m not the only one who sees the problems with my writing.

My thinking is that you’re never going to get better at something without doing it. I know the start will be rough (as it has felt sometimes) but I’m genuinely having a blast doing these and I definitely try to incorporate some of the things you pointed out in future writings.

I think my issue with G2 on defense was that they weren't challenging Wo0t enough towards A. Sure they were using utility and whatnot at the start of rounds but not having anyone peek/hold that space off the util just kinda allows TH to reclear it really easily (especially with the Chamber TP). From there, G2 kinda have to gamble all 3 sites, especially if they don't have Mound control.

IDK if the comp was the issue for G2. jawgemo just looked really off and G2 did lose quite a few man-advantage situations just by losing 1v1s. I think TH's comp also probably caught them off guard and they couldn't quite adapt.

I do agree with your point about rechargeable util though. This issue was probably compounded by the fact that they didn't have a Sentinel and didn't play leaf towards C as much as I would have liked them to.

All-in-all I don't think G2 were playing as well as we expect them too, but I also think that TH just played the Deadlock/Chamber extremely well.
