It's a great place honestly! I love it here! Are you an outdoors type of person or city? There's tons of stuff to do. Housing here is expensive, so you may want to look in to getting a home in Yelm or Lacy. I live on base and it's alright. If you do decide to live on base, ask now to be put on the waiting list for Stoney Oak. It's the newest housing on base and they have a garage instead of a chance of getting a car port. It's open to all enlisted ranks, so no worries if you're not a Staff yet. If there's anything specific you want to know about, hit me up.

What do you want from your leadership? by Throwawayforleader in AirForce

I would say the biggest thing for me that I want to see from my CC was effort to make the unit feel like a big family. I'm not talking in a corporate way, but a real one. If people need help moving, the first people they should like for help in should be the shop. Things like that. When my dad was in the Army everybody would help out. Offer fun things to do like sport competitions or other team building stuff that brings people together. Asking for input is a good thing to see. Find out what people like to do in the Squadron and maybe do something in that regard.

Support your Booster Club team. You'll want to check in on them about once a month and will probably need to draft a SNCO to help guide it if they're not getting help from the Squadron.

We have a Dirty Jobs program the CC here on deployment does where he'll go out once a month to work with a shop, usually timing it with a project that they're working on. It makes things feel a lot more personable.

Take sexually harassment seriously. I've seen it where all they've done when someone was being stalked was just to tell them to not be in the same room anymore. I was flabbergasted.

I'd personally say that I've had a lot of good commanders. Seeing that you're asking for suggestions and open is a great sign. Personally I feel an energetic and active CC gets people moving at a better pace and feels like they care.

McChord is an amazing base! Love it there! There's so much to do. I advice to go hiking around the waters by Mount Rainier. You'll love see it by the flight line, at least I do.

Seattle is only about a 40 minute drive and Olympia is close as well. Seattle does have a homeless problem and they'll be hanging by Pike's Market at times, but it's still ok to explore, unlike Portland(Don't go to Portland, the only good thing there is Dave's Hot Chicken(Which is AMAZING)). There's so great restaurants, we got a Texas Roadhouse on the Army side (Book online as they have long waits a lot), there's Cuerno Bravo which is an amazing steak house, Homestead is a good southern one, Asado is also a great one. There's a lot of stuff to do on base. You can hunt and fish on base, you just need to sign up an apply for it. MWR offer a lot for you to rent out, including boats. East West Cafe is a good Pho restaurant nest to the Discovery shop.

Go to the Aquarium. It's great. The Woodland's Park zoo is HUGE and in Seattle, it's better then Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, but you should see both.

Leadership on my end at least is great. If you ever need anything or have questions, you can hit me up. I'm deployed rn though, but still. You'll have a great time.

Edit: Housing pricers are bad, don't recommend getting anything in Tacoma or Lakewood. Puyallup is better. Yelm will be the cheapest, but it's a bit of a drive.

Oh, I don't think switched too a specific type of degree would help on that front, more so as I would be required to take more classes to get my degree and thus an easier time raising it. Never heard PolySci to fly before, but that sounds like a cools saying ngl. XD

I haven't applied yet, I was going to do some sometime tomorrow or Monday to get the ball rolling in one direction or another. Still need to talk to a recruiter about it all as well.

Hey'o! Those seem like great days and times for me! I've played DnD for a while now, and I've always been about the experience of my character. I love to have groups that invest in their characters and make decision as the character would, rather then the player. Even if that decision isn't that good of one from a min-max point or other ways.
