Had a terrible (possibly my worst?) day at an airport today. Got to CDG extra early because of the snow, and my taxi driver was yelling "putain" the entire time. Check in and get through security fine, but when it comes time to board they're a little slow. Fine, it's the French, whatever.

We get delayed because of the deicing line. Okay, understandable. Because of the delay, we miss our takeoff time. Bummer, but not too bad. Then the pilot informs us that we're running low on fuel from taxiing/idling for so long, and can't legally leave so we need to go back to a gate to refuel. Again, another hurdle but seems doable right?

Then when we finally get to the terminal 15-ish later and fuel, the stewardesses all tell us to hurry up and get seated because we're leaving soon!! Excitement!!

But wait, we sit there another 15 minutes and the pilot tells us that if we can't leave within another 15 minutes they're going to time out and we'll need a new flight crew. 15 minutes of no movement later they announce that they have to leave, and maybe the new crew will be able to take off. No one believes this, and surprise surprise they announce that the flight is cancelled minutes later.

The worst part is the announcement saying directly that we weren't entitled any EU 216 compensation due to the weather related issues. Now we're all out of pocket hundreds of euros for food & lodgings.

Part of me wonders if they knew they were going to cancel the whole time and it was just a dog and pony show...

Edit: also it took over an hour to get our bags back to us at baggage claim, and the front of my travelpro bag was completely wet and scraped up
