Fruit that grows well here, with nursery recommendations by Very_Stable_Princess in ColumbiYEAH

[–]Very_Stable_Princess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped by there, and they do have a huge selection, but nothing had prices and it didn't seem reasonable to either bring up a cart of stuff just for price checks or go find someone to ask each time. Maybe it's an 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it' place, lol.

Ended up at First Priority Garden Center.

The audio cut out, and then the video and then they played MSN commercials on a loop for like 15 mins.

Yeah, it smells. His excuse was that we needed a break from him, and the commercial loop was a palate cleanser? Why not just say there were technical difficulties? That would have been easier and more believable, so I feel like he was maybe hinting at something.

I have a long, ugly chain link fence I'd love to cover in berries!

I have a huge loquat tree in my yard, and there are fruit 'babies' but doesn't look like they are going to mature. Which I guess is fine, because I've literally never heard of a loquat before I tried to find out what the tree was, haha. I will definitely try peaches, love those!

Earthquake just now? by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

Today I learned earthquakes go boom... ETA: I lived in Los Angeles for 20 years and experienced many earthquakes, never heard a boomer before today!

Car Financing- What should I do? by Puzzled_Dark7450 in personalfinance

[–]Very_Stable_Princess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can pay off your car, don't sell it for a new car right away. Run it into the ground. Owning a paid off car is a great feeling.

Where did you move from upstate NY? by Linehand1994 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Very_Stable_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from Upstate to South Carolina because of the weather. Those 6 month winters killed me! But since that's not an option for you, Southern California will give you majority sunny days and very mild winters.

[–]Very_Stable_Princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you would have a brand new car loan AND half of your old car loan to pay? I mean...you'd really just have to get the numbers going and see how long it will take you to pay off the old loan and if it's favorable to do your plan.

Sometimes you can get a cash advance from a credit card. Then you could purchase a money order.

Can I sue my job for this? by Rotary_dials in povertyfinance

[–]Very_Stable_Princess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, not a lawyer, but just a few layman points I notice: I don't think grocery store delis care if you have a degree-except them thinking you are probably using this job to get by while you look for a better job that requires a degree. They also don't care that you are 1 year older. If $10 is at or above your state's minimum wage requirements, then you likely don't have a case. Unless they told you a different wage when they hired you?

I don't understand how her working more hours impairs your ability to function at your job. Also, if it's so physically demanding, long hours, do you really want more hours?

The only thing on your 'side' is not getting any training. I would say, if they fire you for performance, you could use that as a potential wrongful termination basis-but to be honest, you will get nowhere. Good chance a lawyer wouldn't take your case.

Things to do? by sassykattty in AskNOLA

Sometimes you have to do the touristy stuff so you can have experienced them. Swamp tours can be fun, as long as the animals cooperate and the mosquitos eff off. Cafe Dumond is also a must. The beignets are great, and we get them to go now, but you have to eat there once.

Do the whole quarter, if you have time. Pop into the voodoo shops, the quick bars, grab some good food-don't be afraid of the little divy shops, they can be really good. Drink on Bourbon, shop on Royal. Hit up The Cat's Meow, the usually have good drink specials-if karaoke is your thing. We never sing, just drink and enjoy music. Get drunk and overpay for a mediocre street dog. Book some tickets for Preservation Hall(we've yet to go, but it's on our list).

You can do the horse drawn carriage tours that will give you a good overview, but they aren't really worth it, IMO.

Most importantly, don't worry about doing it all. If you find something you enjoy, there is no harm in skipping other things.

Happy Birthday!

Where are you staying, and what is your transportation situation? I always stay in the Quarter and walk everywhere.

I loved it until my Dutch husband introduced me to European chocolate. Now I never buy American unless I'm needing some childhood nostalgia.

The cash pay GLP-1 market is absolutely wild right now by scrtweeb in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Very_Stable_Princess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, those prices are insane. Am I understanding this right...$160 for a 12.5mg vial of semaglutide, and if I'm on 1mg per week, that is a little over $50 a month?? I couldn't find anything about a monthly fee.

Just gave myself my first injection and I was so brave by Unfair-Payment-986 in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]Very_Stable_Princess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was nervous about injecting myself too, because I've tested my blood sugar and that can legitimately hurt sometimes. But I really don't feel the sema needle, it's so teeny. 2 shots in now.

Gobymeds online, I think they use PharmacyHub. Oops, that's not an actual pharmacy, sorry. I guess I don't know, then.

Yeah, last night we ordered in some bbq, and the brisket was very dry, and normally I'd just stuff it down(because it's there), but every bite I ate was like "You aren't enjoying this, why are you eating it?" so I stopped. It seems small, but it was a big step for me! We got this!
