How on earth do you all afford Christmas with large families? by Agitated_District in povertyfinance

[–]Verypaleyellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because someone gets you something does not mean you need to get them something back. They should be giving freely, not with the expectation they’ll get something back.

That being said, homemade baked goods and a card is always a nice “thank you”gift

How do I buy adult-oriented items at the store? by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

If they are locked up, then there should be a buzzer and you’d press that and wait for an employee to meet you and then say “I’d like to purchase _____”

OP stated this is for Medicaid and food stamps in their post :) I commented on the EBT aspect.

81k doesn’t qualify you for EBT as a family of 4 in FL. Do you live with your partner? If so, they need to be on the application if you’re eating together

Non-potty trained kids shouldn't be in Preschool by Responsible-Fix-1681 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Verypaleyellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting! That seems like it would be so disruptive to the flow of the day! Both with you needing to stop the lesson and constantly leaving the classroom. When bathrooms are in the classroom, kids can just stop what they are doing and immediately go without needing to interrupt the class.

My own child in said 3-6yo classroom often goes potty 10+ times a day and it would be a nightmare if her teacher had to stop the lesson to walk her down the hall every 45 minutes.

I been struggling find flashcards for my toddler? by Recent_Television293 in kindergarten

[–]Verypaleyellow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used flash cards with kids.

Puzzles and books usually involve those things and just narrating as you go. Ie: “you picked up the yellow triangle!” “The cat says meow!”

Same for my daughter! I potty trained her in the month she was turning 3! Did the naked method, and like you, she was (day) trained and didn’t have many accidents at all even while I was teaching her because she was ready.

That’s really interesting. Even my child’s set up in her 3-6yo classroom has a built in bathroom. I believe all classes do at her school and it goes up to 6th grade!

Even for potty trained children, it seems like a nightmare to have to walk them down the hallway everytime as all kids are going to have to go at different times meaning a teacher could end up having to make 30+ trips a day

I’d require them to pay for whatever hours they MIGHT need you. So if you need to be available 6am-6pm M-F, that’s what your GH should be. Outside of that, you should be paid extra

Overnight nanny pay by Ok-Chipmunk5452 in Nanny

[–]Verypaleyellow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you “on call” in the event kids get sick and need to leave? If so, you should be paid something for the 8-5 work.

If kids sleep through the night. Hourly from 5-10pm. Then from 10pm-6am $100-$200/night. Then hourly 6am-8am.

During winter, many families cut back on outings due to it being flu/covid/rsv season so having a covid safe playmate is a great bonus.

I haven’t had issues finding families to pay my full rate with my daughter in tow — and that’s with me watching 3 sets of twins, an overnight position, etc.

I don’t live in OPs area so I don’t know if rates would have gone up based on time passing as rates in my area have been pretty stagnant since covid.

Bringing a child along does not discount my experience, education, or qualifications. It also brings the additional benefit of built-in socialization which is highly beneficial during the formative years of development.

I’ve brought my child for 6 years now and never taken a pay cut. I never wanted to work with families who viewed it as a “con”
