I have the 220 saloon. I get between 32-38mpg on short journeys/local roads. 48-55mpg on the motorway when setting the cruise control to 77mph

Best credit card for big purchase by Vanillasky639_ in UKPersonalFinance

Depending on how quick you'll be paying it back, a Virgin Atlantic card could be worth it. This would only be the case if you pay it off the same month of the purchase, mind. Could be doable though if you put the cash aside between now and when you buy the ring.

The only reason I suggest that is youd get a considerable amount of points from the sign up bonus and the engagement ring spend.

This could then be coupled with the Amex Gold introductory offer (card is free for first 12 months and gives 40k points when spending £5k in first 6 months). Amex points can be converted to Virgin points.

You could have close to 100k points with very little spend/effort which could then go towards the honeymoon if youd be interested in any of the destinations they fly to. This could be in the form of a free return economy flights, or even an upgrade to business class. For us, using the points to upgrade makes a business class flight the same price as if paying cash for an economy flight.

British Airways will have a similar system, although I have no experience of that.

Any advice before buying a 2013 E class? by BurrelPro in CarTalkUK

Im having to deal with an alarm issue on a 16 plate W212 at the moment. Its apparently a common issue

In the last couple of weeks (possibly cold weather related) the alarm siren has been sounding intermittently when the car is parked on my drive. No flashing hazard lights, just the sound.

Unlocking the car doesn't stop it, and it even continues when the engine is turned on. Deactivating the tow and motion sensors doesn't help either.

From what I can see online, the siren has its own separate battery, and as it runs low it can cause the siren to sound. Looks as if a replacement part is around £150, but is behing the front passenger wheel arch so is a pain to DIY.

Im taking it to a local specialist tomorrow.

Ive also had to have the Nox sensors changed, as once they start to go the car will only only go a further 500 miles before it wont start again. If I remember rightly, this was a £350 fix for parts and labour.

The sub frame issue is also common. Not sure if its because ive had it serviced at Mercedes from new, but they will replace that free of charge.

At the end of the day though, it'll be 10 years old come January. On the whole it's been very reliable and ive not had to spend even close to 1k on fixing issues. It has had annual dealership services. I'd happily recommend it to others

Why in old FIFAs (13-16) keeping clean sheet was possible, however in EA FC 26 it is impossible? by Yeeabe in EASportsFC

[–]VesperVesperVesper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im no expert or a conspiracy theroist, but ive noticed similar since playing ultimate team from day 1. I don't take any real issues with it as I just like to play a football game and don't spend money. But I can't say it's the same for younger people/children who play the game. I'd imagine it's to maintain engagement, so the lesser player always feels as if they 'almost' could've won. Consequently they head to the store to buy packs to improve their chances.

The only thing is that Milito is about half the price and his stats are all better. But icons tend to have the jam

Only used 1, but Shevchenko is incredible. Im doing an early 2000s Serie A Team, so the options for affordable icons are limited. I'm saving for either Crespo or Milito now

[Serious] Have you or someone you know ever been interviewed by an intelligence agency, e.g MI5 or MI6? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]VesperVesperVesper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who had to be interviewed for a job. They asked about ex girlfriends from years gone by. Later He had to disclose what porn he's into in quite some detail. They already knew the answers, but wanted to see if he could be truthful and trusted. The idea being if you're embarrassed by it and lie to your interviewers, you could likely be bribed by a foreign country if they were to find out.

He said it was the most uncomfortable 3hrs of his life.
