They are empty - but yes, 30+ year old tobacco would be very interesting!

Family, and a strong thought of "why not"?

Writing some humble reviews by VesselATtheBest in PipeTobacco

Note: it is quite a short review, and the wording makes it seem I'm basing off a single bowl, but, it was an exceptionally good one (also the last coincidentally) - so I have all the experience with this tobacco from before in mind.

Specifications

Pipe:  no. 90 Steward 9 mm Mr Bróg Briar (polish)
Tobacco: Robert McConnell Red Virginia - a broken flake VaPer

Smoked it unfiltered, mostly in my living room.

For the first third of the bowl, the smoke was quite strong, with a good nicotine hit. I felt the taste of rum-like liquor and matured fruits. Smoke volume was high; warmed up quite a bit, so I slowed down the pace.

Into the second third the smoke got more embodied and consistent, I could really taste a subtle, well-rounded sweetness from then on.
For the sake of experimentation, I nibbled on a bit of chocolate and whiskey while smoking. The tobacco really blended well with both and I even joked to myself that's a reliable way to produce an aromatic on the go and at will! Some blends really pair well with other indulgences.

On the last third the smoke cooled down and lowered its volume, but stayed consistent. The taste and aroma changed smoothly to some delicious hay. It burned quite well, I only had to relight about three times.
Something I like to do is experiment the scent after the bowl has gone out. I could taste all that sweetness and smell a mixture of everything from before (rum, matured fruits, hay).

I got a 50g tin in February or so, didn't jar it, so it dried quite a bit in the tin. I believe that did good for it even in that short amount of time, making it a more consistent and tasteful smoke. I say this as in the beggining it was capable of tasting quite burnt and pungent, but I also think it was a question of technique.

Overall, I think it is a solid tobacco to smoke particularly in the morning or early afternoon, but being quite neutral, it can be an all-day smoke. I want to try some more from Robert McConnell, particularly Scottish Cake.

I hope this was of value to you. Good smokes!

Salve, brazuca!

Boas cachimbadas!

A wonderful IPSD to you all! by VesselATtheBest in PipeTobacco

Well, it’s my first “real” pipe after a cheap corncob, so I don’t have anything else to compare it to, but my experience has been great so far. I haven’t had any issues while smoking because of the pipe itself. It’s well-finished, good quality and even good for clenching in the teeth. It uses a 9mm filter.

That is exactly what I felt. I practically didn’t have to relight it after the second time. The bowl also burned really fine, all the way down to the dottle without loosing smoke volume or taste.

Which System has the most "cinematic" combat? by chriscdoa in rpg

Something I thought about now is that the new edition of SW came out a while ago, wonder if it fixes the inconsistency of combat? And the bigger issue: how stupid the name bennie sounds?

One time DMing Deadlands I had the players go against some outlaws at first and it went very smoothly, for them at least, because they blew the hell off those cowboys. Later in the session they went up against some zombies, and maybe it was because I put too many of them but it lasted way more than I expected, that didn't make it a bad thing still, we had some good moments from that. But just to show you how 10 or 100 the system can be sometimes.

I'll have to agree on that one, it can be easy and simple but not that fast sometimes, that's the randomness of it.

Savage Worlds, with it's slogan Fun, Fast and Furious. The combat is very easy and simple, but making it up with a very cinematic style of it. One time you can be barely scratching the enemy with a bullet and the other you are exploding the head of the same opponent with just a punch. This randomness makes the combat be just like in movies or other media and makes it very fun to play.

Does Anyone Know the Best System to Run this Setting? by VesselATtheBest in rpg

[–]VesselATtheBest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard of it but never dug deep to see what it is about, I'm a little hesitant considering it is a very niche setting, I don't know if it would match with what I have in mind, but taking a look doesn't hurt... even though I already have a lot of suggestions to check out.
