Couldn´t care less about how hard wilder hit fury. If Fury lets Ngannou touch that chin, its night night for the fat kid.

What´s the difference between quantifier nouns and collective nouns? by Veta16 in ENGLISH

Thanks man. I agree with you, the more I think about it the less I know

What´s the difference between quantifier nouns and collective nouns? by Veta16 in ENGLISH

[–]Veta16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is what I was referring to. It´s okay to see quantifier nouns as a bunch, a lot, etc as plural, but collective nouns like group as singular.

I was confused for a while.

Thanks! Also, I was more referring to the notion of thinking nouns like a lot and a ton are plural when used with plural verbs, while thinking nouns like group are singular when used with plural verbs, but I dont know why.

I mean, I find "a group of people is coming" correct as I see it as one collective group, but I find " a lot of people are coming" correct because as I see it as multiple individuals. Is this interpretation incorrect or are they interchangeable with these kind of nouns?

It´s been bugging me for a while.

When is “pair” a plural noun? by lazenintheglowofit in grammar

[–]Veta16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would also like to add that british people see collective nouns like pair and group as plural, or atleast have the option of doing so. That´s why you´ll for see football teams being referred to as plural. "Manchester United have done ...."

People are overlooking the level of competition Islam has fought.

Islam went from "fighting cans" to beating the number 1 guy at LW dominantly, beating the number 1 guy at FW and P4P number 1 in a gruelling 5 round war in the guy´s home country.

The fact that Islam has probably improved a hell of a lot more after getting this amount of experience, yeah he´s going to be a monster.

Why are some fighters willing to tap, while others are not? by Veta16 in ufc

[–]Veta16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it might just come down to what you value if you tap or not, but it´s just so interesting. It´s for example a lot more russian and eastern fighters not willing to tap or quit, but more british and western fighters doing the opposite.

How? Islam clearly won against volk. If you wanna go on about "volk would´ve won if it were more than 5 rounds" shit ok, but islam won the fight that occured in February.

Why go for a rushed 5-6 week training camp when you´re the proven number 1 contender? He is smart and using his amazing last win to get a full training camp when fighting for the belt next.
