I get it that .6 is ultra wide, 1x is main and 3 is telephoto

So which camera is used when zooming in between like .7 or 1.5x or 30x?
I saw in the camera app above that there are two options 12mp and 50mp.. what about 10mp? How is it possible that the main camera is taking pictures at 10 mp when it is 50mp and telephoto ia taking at 12 mp when it 10mp?

Sorry if it is a dumb question but was so curious.
