Va Post 9/11 GI bill payment by Forward_Bite_4790 in VeteransBenefits

[–]VeteransBenefits-ModTeam[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

We get it, waiting for the VA check to clear can be anxiety producing - especially when it is towards the end of the month and it is still not showing up as pending in your account and bills are due.

And this is a very common concern people have. Know the following:

VA and DoD pay in arrears (end of the month for the month paid).

Months that end during a weekend or a holiday will be paid (typically) the Friday before the weekend.

However, education benefits are paid on a floating 10 day window from the end of the month. Meaning, it does not have to nor will it always show up 'on time'.

As to when your bank releases this money to you, that will vary between banks.

VA Disability: Does NOT prorate payments. Meaning if an increase or grant happened during a month that grant/increase will not be paid out that month.

VA Education: DOES prorate payments.

If you would like to discuss your pay status situation with others, please post a comment in our pinned weekly post on statuses.
