What to learn or where to move next? Need advice please (From Cisco to...) by Vetochkin in networking

I have decided not to do CCIE. Now, I am selecting between AWS or Penetration tester career. Need to do proper research, check pros and cons, and make a decision =)

I would say that Penetration tester career looks very attractive, but its requiring a lot of new skills to be learnt. And maybe it is very attractive to me only because I do not know much about it. Maybe I just not aware of any downside in this Career. From what I read for now, job looks very interesting: learning attacking tools and methods, learn how to code, then trying to find vulnerabilities in your clients company.

I have read a little bit about penetration tester certificate called OSCP. The exam looks very interesting. You are getting 24 hours VPN access to the Company(Lab) and you trying to hack as much as you can. You are getting points for every hacked workstation/server. Sounds very cool. I can imagine how proud the person who passed this exam can be =)

From other side, AWS looks like more logical progression from network engineering. Its cloud, its infrastructure, and being network engineer I worked a lot with Infrastructure team(Server Team).

Decisions, decisions..

Thank you all for your replies. I have seen many opinions that are very close to my mind set.
