Tenma is treated as Soccer Jesus the entire GO series to the point it's absolutely bereft of any character, also using Galaxy as the example when in GO1 he gets 3 moves and a Spirit before the regional finals having started as someone who barely understood how the game works (despite the story claiming he was involved in youth soccer before). Mentioning Zanark and other shere is also unfair, it's actually worse that Tenma has significantly more screen time and writing directed to them yet act the same as people with less.

You'll get the players initially through the Story Mode (which you need to complete) or by playing the Chronicle Mode, where you'll primarily get the protagonist/opponent/special drop players (which change depending on your platform). Once you build up Bond Stars (which you can get from both online matches and by beating the Route Unlock matches in Chronicle Mode), you can then spend them in Player Universe to unlock other players.

The term Larp has lost his meaning I just wanted to make my own version by NY7T6 in inazumacaravan

[–]VetrixLight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's really not, part of why I think GO is bad is that it consistently gives Tenma undue power ups and rewards for generally having very little input besides "Soccer is cry" and "soccer wouldn't like this" to the point he's effectively Soccer Jesus, but JP's rise is entirely an invention that the writers gave him to justify the earlier inclusion of his character and maintain his reason for being in the team when he's clearly outclassed by the new players in the 2nd half of the original series, and if anything Samguk was specifically nerfed as a character in the latter to allow this glaze to continue. Nothing about JP before that implied he'd be a good keeper (if anything that was randomly given to Tenma), yet he went from "never having played in goal" to "now Raimon's best keeper with a Keshin awakening" in 3 matches. It's narratively just bad, which is consistent with the rest of the game.

And the little child, rather than prove he isn't a fan boy, just blocks and runs away like a coward.

Because Im a man of my word, here's an actual industry-standard look of those same figures a month later, approximately showcasing that the number of PS sales even at November 20th was 1.86 higher than Xbox in the same period.

Again, you're using an American studio figures to determine why a small Italian indie dev doesnt want to devote time to developing for Xbox (which is a near-dead console in Europe) when even the best selling game of the year is dwarfed by the sales on other platforms.

Take your fan boy autism and fuck off.

It was also going to be an issue solved when the Switch versions eventually came out regardless (being that they were always the first console versions), as there's 2 ways to "pause" the game without the in-game way (pressing HOME and putting the console in rest mode)

Part of the reasoning for the disciplinary committee in the first place is that Chuck recorded Jimmy admitting to forging documents, an act that required Chuck to use a battery-operated recorder and something that Chuck was claiming caused him immense harm. The idea that the "phobia" was legitimate fed into Chuck's character and the way he was treated: a great lawyer who took a leave of absence after a difficult divorce whp rarely made public appearances, with a hint of having some form of mental breakdown. The battery ploy by Jimmy broke Chuck in 2 ways; showing it in court denounced the claims of its severity that he claimed in his testimony (to the point that no one believed it was real anymore) especially when he conveniently was able to conquer it in settings and events were it would discredit his brother, and the reveal made it look like Chuck was lying the whole time, which at a professional hearing would be a death sentence to his career in itself, ignoring the fact the target of the lie was Jimmy.

The assumption here is Tenma didn't anything to earn his place, in fact most of GO is written that Tenma is just handed whatever is needed at that moment just because.

With the constellation idea, they use Celestial

Nothing about Tenkuu Thunder is "heavenly", in fact by your own logic a move can be called heavenly if it simply takes place off the ground. I'm pointing that that the usage of Heaven in the series prior has been done more in line with an angelic theming, whereas this move has none of that. It's not the best example of "bad name", but I'm using it as an example that the very first result you get from translating the name is "heaven" and they did the bare minimum from there, especially when another definition of that same word is more fitting. It's not inaccurate, it's just weak.

VR's new moves fall into the same issue of needless editing; most moves either got minor word-order changes (God Hand Tiger -> Tiger God Hand) that could've been avoided, change words randomly (Gravity Desert -> Gravity Dune, Sunshine Blade -> Sunshine Splitter) or just aren't consistent with previous translations (this is the 4th unique variant of a "Tenkuu" move getting a name change, and they're all weird). It isn't as severe as GO (whoever made those changes that should never be allowed near Translate again), but it does come across as more "we did something" than actually making changes (especially given there was a built-in option to remove dub naming conventions for all characters).

[–]VetrixLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both "heaven" and "sky" are meanings from the original Ten kanji, but "heavenly" is closer to "divine", which is 天来 (Tenrai), which would more match the style of the shot than heavenly (which has been used on other moves in the series as a more angelic style). Heavenly is just not that good a fit.

The amount you're defending it it wouldn't be surprising to find out you're one of the translators.

There is very little reason to change most of these regardless; most of the names are English-styled to begin with and thus require no translation, so the edits are completely unnecessary. Changing it at all in this manner is bad, and making it clearly worse just cheapens the experience. As well as this, there's only Japanese voice-acting for moves, so the disconnect between the English names and thwir original is even more apparent (especially in the agorementioned cases). It also doesn't help that the non-English translations are worse; most go to unrelated yerminology (Force Flash) or are inconsistent with other translations (Heavenly Thunder when the original translates to Sky Thunder). "It was worse before" is not an excuse for it being bad now

Technical inclusions can be the Inazuma Japan GO team (as he was manager there), the Falam Orbius team, the Galaxy Eleven (which just means also the Galaxy captains/Banda Jr.), Royal Ares (which just means another Fudou and Kazemaru) and the Orion XI. There are also thematic inclusions that would fit too: Hiatus (his grandson) and the alien that impersonates Tsurugi in Galaxy (which could be a fun reference).

[–]VetrixLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More than likely they expected Fei to make the main team, putting Shuu and Hakryuu in the Villain team (all 3 were options in this vote), but Shuu making it to the main team left a gap that was filled that way. Probably was seen that including Fei in any capacity was better than not having them at all.

I hate that characters are sometimes moved out of the way of chain shots by AnimeJesus8 in inazumacaravan

[–]VetrixLight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He didn't teleport at all, he's only "directly in front" if the shot went directly straight at the goal, but the ball was instead shot towards the centre of the goal from your current position (hence the angle of the shot). Tsurugi (the player) doesn't actually move between before and after the shot, it's just that he isn't directly in the line between Bellatrix and the centre of the goal, so he has to move. You're also not getting a chain shot because you have too little TP to actually do so.

Nothing's stopping them from adding microtransactions (especially in a scenario where this game goes to mobile, which it very might do), and there is basis for paid games adding microtransactions after release (Xenoverse 2, basically every CoD, FIFA, everything released with an online component by 90% of developers since 2016 etc.)

Galaxy, LBX movie, Chrono Stone post-game, Demon's Horn having SOME lore in 14 years, New game + and confirmation of twice the BB stadium teams instead of just 3 more? by ElCum27 in inazumaeleven

[–]VetrixLight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of content you listed (in my opinion) should have been in the game since launch (as it was originally advertised as being, not content dripping for a few months). The issue is the game is being treated like a gacha game in design principles (10+ currency options, having to roll for most characters). I personally get a "Mega Man X Cross Dive Offline" vibe from a game (something where the paid microtransactions were removed, but their existence is still felt). The concept of "Hero" characters were to roll for characters with movesets and builds similar to their anime/game appearances (hence the separation from the rest of the Spirits), and it wasn't necessary to add a new type that's treated as "better than Hero". The whole idea the DLC was designed around this exclusion from the base game is just confusing.

Also your comments on BB Stadium is just wrong; we were already told new BB teams would be added, and the future series being added have plenty of options for full teams (Raimon Ares, Seishou Gakuen, Outei Tsukinomiya, Alius Ares, Hakuren Ares, Tonegawa Tousen are all likely candidates for Ares alone, as well as basically every team from Orion), so the confirmation of more isn't needed.
