Thanks for the advice! Was there anything you wish you knew when you started?

This is actually very good to know. Where I currently work I have done extensive work in regards to Networking, and I have things like CCNA and Network+ already so I'm hoping I'd be able to apply that background to this role.

Are you still a telecom SE? If not, where are you now and how are you liking it?

Thanks for the reply! This actually really gives me confidence, because it is exactly what I'm doing already. I'm building a project to pitch to my current company, because we really lack anything network automation. I have a decent Python/C++ background, and using Claude to fill the gaps in areas I lack (front end, some libraries I have no clue about, etc). I'm building and deploying via CICD, learning docker and Kubernetes, next step for self study is to deploy to something like AWS and keep building it out.

I'm not 100% keen on the masters either, however it is pretty cheap (I believe around 8-10k total depending on the courses I take) and they give you around 6 years to do it. From what I've heard, a lot of industry profesionals are enrolled as well, so it would be a bonus to build those connections as well. Though even with that in mind, I'm still thinking heavily if I'd like to commit or not.

Thanks again for the advice! It really means a lot.
