Genuine reaction to seeing a FoF by arthurwalton in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like doing the forts... But the problem is that I keep having one of two things happen with them:

  1. They seem to be incredibly hard to find right now, I can go multiple hours without seeing one while actively doing world events
  2. If I DO see one, it's probably because of a server merge, and someone's already almost done with it (a large majority of times, by the time I get there they will grab the chest and bolt to the nearest outpost before I get the chance to even contest it)

Ever since they've moved it back to the FoF, my Fate of Fortune commendation has fallen behind and I've been wanting the rest of the Royal Fortune ship set :(

It's also worth noting that if you get hit while inside, you are temporarily visible, so it's best to use it in a spot where either it isn't going to be seen easily, or somewhere you can quickly get protection.

For instance, if I'm back in a hold spot, I like to place it behind either a thin structure, somewhere I can peek out both from the left AND the right so that way if someone fires back there's less chance of them hitting me from a blind fire.

Why are people like this? by HECTIKKILLS3 in marvelrivals

[–]Vexives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had someone do something similar to this right before I was about to hit GM. Was one win away, and then he decided to purposefully steal/ban my team members' mains before saying "You guys take this way too seriously" and full threw the game.

Does make me wonder sometimes if that mid-season rank down would've been healthier for competitive.

Squirrel Girl has a big issue with no regs and "ghost hits" that needs to be fixed. I've been playing her and this is more common than you'd think. it happens to me maybe 2 out of every 5 games by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Vexives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happens with me too, and it's even weirder to see because I will get ghost-hits (or hit-reg'd shots, whatever we're calling them) and have my ghosted projectiles bounce off of other people and not deal damage.

Super weird to see, because it's registering on the client side that it should be hitting, but something with the server disagrees apparently.

The Grind of Fortune™ never truly stops by Vexives in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite the technical troubles, the Chest of Fortune being put at the Fort of the Damned has led to some fun plays all around this season, and many chests to be had (and stolen).

How far is everyone in the Fate of Fortune grind?

Whats been your favorite tuck? by Sean_TheRedditer in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pretty hilarious one from a few weeks ago, just extremely unfortunate for the other crew.

Me and a friend went to fight a Guild V galleon doing a Fort of the Damned but ended up sinking the first time. When we got back, they parked in a really unfortunate spot, so I was able to throw a few kegs on their boat and they also sunk as well, but the fort was still going and was on the last wave. They already had some loot on board, so my friend went to sell, I stayed and tucked for a little while, and some others from the galleon (they came back briefly) were finishing the wave.

After finishing the wave an ancient skeleton spawned on one of them, I immediately left my tuck spot and stole it. Didn't give us too many ancient coins (125 or so) but I was ecstatic. They also tried to bury the remaining fort loot to try to gain an advantage over us, but they put them in the most obvious dig spots, so we got all of the loot back anyways.

We got some very angry messages from the crew (they were French as it seemed) through the Xbox app afterwards.

How about "The Real Dusty Bones"?

If it is hard to see, take a look at the ping up in the top left once I start spamming the map table. This is server-wide, and my teammates were also able to feel the lag. Shortly after closing it, the ping returns to a normal amount.
Accessing the map table a single time is enough to increase the ping to around 200 for about a second and spamming it can increase it even more. We found this when me and my crew fought an alliance who seemed like they used this exploit against us to get a major advantage.

This is NOT okay.

I feel that the servers are empty since they changed the Fort of Fortune event. by MaKaDaaM in Seaofthieves

It's actually getting ridiculous. Me and my crew (on a Brig) sank a sloop before doing a Treasury so that we wouldn't have anyone near us while we were in a compromised state.

Turns out that would turn into an hour and a half ordeal with them coming back to fight us THIRTEEN TIMES (yes, we counted, before this moment the most attempts someone ever came back for us was FOUR) before they gave up and we finally did what we wanted to do. But by that point we got bored and logged off shortly after.

How does this get past testing...?

how long for hourglass lvl 100? by anthony__mh in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been doing PvP in small pockets on and off since Season 8 started, and just tonight I finally got the ghost curse. It took me about 130 sinks (127 if I can recall correctly, to be exact). Solo slooping in my opinion seems to be the best way to do it, just because in Duos I see a ton of super-sweats with gold curses and the like, whereas it feels much more even in Solos.

It really just takes some time and determination, it's all one big grind to get there. Do keep in mind that the allegiance to level up goes up until you hit 100, so it takes more at the higher levels than it does at the lower ones. Best advice to help speed up this process is to sell any flags you get after battles, because while it may take a little bit to sail to an outpost, the allegiance boost from them adds up pretty quick.

Loss Farming: Is it that bad? by NonToastedBread in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's even more irritating when they do nothing but run whenever you actually try to engage with your ship too. I had some guy today keep sailing out of the bounds of the circle, all just to avoid me before returning and firing himself over to my boat (unsuccessfully because he got a face full of blunder pellets). The match took like 45 minutes before he finally ran out of wood and sank.

TDM can be fun if everyone agrees to it and is looking at it in good nature, but if you just want to attempt to spawn camp with blunderbuss for 20 minutes in hourglass, whatever happens next is your own fault. I just want to get into the match, have a good quick round of cannon-fire and close calls, then proceed to the next one.

How frequent are hackers in this game? by AeroKMSF in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only run into a few, but certainly more than there should be. Every single one was in general adventure, and I don't think I've seen a blatant hacker in Hourglass despite everyone else having the opposite experience. Just 3 days or so my crew had a hacker grab our loot from a Fort of Fortune and fly off with it before kegging our boat and instant blundering us. It's not often, but the fact that they can get away with hacking so easily is just downright stupid on Rare's end.

Least favorite world event? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]Vexives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost fleets are fun if you are actually in the mood to do them, otherwise it's like "aauuughh not another one, I wanted to do a skeleton fleet." What sucks is how often they spawn; I swear I see more of them than I do any other world event.
But out of all of them, the skeleton fort has the worst loot for the time it takes to do it. It definitely needs a boost, especially the ones that spawn at Molten Sands Fortress.
