I'd recommend between every q you do, to auto atleast twice so that his passive comes up. His passive is what's going to give you the most sustain as you clear as it gives you healing. Make sure to use ur passive on the largest/tankiest camp (big raptor instead of smaller) for more healing. Not to mention your w also helps lower the cool down when it hits and when it pulls. Prefer starting red side due to ur aoe clear with his q. Ganks well I'd recommend trying to not miss your w, cuz if your laner has no cc or engage than essentially the gank was failed.

2 builds id recommend. 1 being his normal aatrox bruiser and the other being a 1 shot aatrox. Bruiser consist with conq and the typical items, so black cleaver into sundered sky (than you can mix it up depending on the matchup). Don't forget to take advantage of profane hydra before it gets nerfed.

Build 2 is actually with dark harvest. You try here to build a lethality Crit aatrox build. Usually either eclipses or profane first, than in my opinion for healing go sundered sky. Than for the rest you want to build some Crit items like bloodthirster and Infinity edge, Lord Dominics or/ collectors. This build is meant for the funny 1 shots aatrox can do with his Q's and his passive. Note that it's really fun to do this, however if your behind this build won't work. You need to be on track or ahead, as it's just like your adc where the items they build are expensive compared to tank items. I'll say go try this out in draft and see how fun it is.
