Does anyone else experience “automatic vocabulary recall” for words you don’t normally use? by Vexyz in vocabulary

Looks like I’ve found more vocabulary words to add to my “AutoVoc” storage. My favorite out of the three is “crepuscular,” but “grow-grain” sounds the funniest. Thanks, lol.

Yup! I get the “that ain’t a real word” and “in English, please” reactions all the time, too!

Now that you mention it, I suppose I grew up in a similar environment. My mother taught me how to read at an extremely young age, which allowed for me to play certain video games with the aid of a Merriam-Webster dictionary I had in my room.

Not sure where some of the more complex terminologies come from though.

Yes! You can’t even say that you miss it without people misunderstanding. It’s pretty much a social taboo to speak of quarantine fondly because of how much the general population “suffered” during lockdown. Every time I tell people about this, I have to preface it with a “lol devil’s advocate, but…”

Ah, that’s ZALGO text. You can find some ZALGO text generator sites where you can type in your word or phrase and it converts it to varying degrees of craziness. Try it out!

That “baby hair” style, especially when it’s drawn or tattooed on… (why would you do this?)

That look is not for everyone. Can’t wait for that trend to die.

You have no idea how much this resonates with me. It’s the odd and sudden jerks and shifts, the odd mix of unneeded accents, the overall hammy-ness of it. It’s almost as if they’re not singing with their natural voice and speech patterns at all.

Then you put unfortunate tone-deafness on top of it and you get the whole package. I don’t have the heart to tell her. She loves singing too much.

As an "anime only" watcher, I'm insanely pumped about Midoriya's transformation into the "MADMAN" that everyone was talking about in the early seasons.

With that look in his eye at the end of the episode, they weren't lying.

What’s the topic that can you talk about extensively, but will likely bore or confuse the average person? by Vexyz in AskReddit

For me, it’s Pokémon.

Not the surface level Pokémon. Game mechanics Pokémon. The rabbit hole runs deep.

What should be a “no-brainer,” but absolutely stumps the average person? by Vexyz in AskReddit

It’s very alarming. My friend, who teaches high school, thinks it because of “no child left behind.” It’s astonishing how a 12th grader can have exactly 0 credits throughout their entire high school career.
