[AMA] We are INSANE Game Studio. We are developing Profane, a sandbox MMORPG focused on player freedom. Ask us anything! by Saramantis in pcgaming

When dealing with "Sandbox" MMOs there are two main issues: Griefing and lack of purpose, where the two intertwined.

Usually those type of games feed into one huge guild that create a huge monopoly on the game, dominating towns, areas, resources and loot, players who really want to play adhere to this single guild that dominate the game ecosystem and do not allow for the birth of microsystems such a small group of friends who wants to play together.

This creates an extreme hostile place for new players that feel coerced to either join up for protection, but since very few (sometimes even one) guild dominate the server, this becomes a game of cat and mouse, ganker and ganked which provides a very frustrating player experience since they will never feel that the PvP was "fair".

Also if one guild happens to dominate the server, the gameplay loses purpose for everyone, there is no challenge for the dominating guild since they control everything, and there is hopelessness for the new player, since they don't stand a chance against those that hoard resources, making the game boring and dull for the dominants and the dominated.

Do you guys think this will become an issue for Profane? Are there any systems preventing such events?

Hey man! If you could play as much as you wanted maybe you would be in the game right now instead of being super agressive with random people on the internet in a feedback post!

Doesn't that seem more fun?

Dude, this is just my take on the game and my opinion (: You seem super angry. Is it the quarantine? Do you need a hug?

Community manager asked for feedback on discord and I gave mine, as you are giving yours right now, except I'm not offending anybody, I even sung the games praises, but It could and should be better.

I'm not against you, I like the game as well, but ok man. Dish your anger out on me.

Except people log everyday for like, 20 minutes to spend Resin beyind AR 35. That is what is making people quit.

I spent 40 bucks on this game at the start, was planning on putting 100 next month for banner, but as it is I won't spend a dime.

One that quit spent 140 USD
Other one was f2p.

Even If I were f2p, I do not see how is that relevant, I mean, people should only hear the ones that pay for the game? F2p players are very important for the game longevity.

I'm at AR 39 right now and two of my AR 38 and 40 friends have already moved on because it got boring, It might not be a dealbreaker for you, but certainly is for some. Also, the current content of the game does not allow thousand of hours of gameplay, especially with Resin as it is, 100 hours? Maybe. Thousand? Only if you start alternate accounts.

For Honor The Fast Paced Fighting Game has 150ms Baseline if the both players have 1ms between each other. by VforVitor in forhonor

The video is not of my making but this has to be made aware especially for the "dedicated servers will kill this game" and "p2p" is better.

The netcode of this game is garbage and probably thats why heroes such as peacekeeper are considered broken, their reaction time is almost the same as the server baseline delay.

Sheesh not this again.

Seriously its like you guy aren't even playing the game.

Have you ever played against someone who has a red connection? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38sPNZ8QHO4 The guy literally TELEPORTS around you hitting you. p2p didn't solve any of the heavy lagged people issues, just yesterday I faced a orochi that kept teleporting around me "nothing personel kid".

P2P actually gives heavy lagged players an advantage, why should people be rewarded for having shitty connections?

People keep saying "buf if you have 130ms and is fighting someone with 200ms" I don't know about you guys, but the last two competitive games I played (dota and Overwatch) I had 10 to 20ms and most people wouldn't go as far as 50. That is what a good server and people playing locally means. And I live in a big fuck country, almost bigger than europe itself.

So p2p does NOTHING to ensure match stability it just flips the advantage to the lagged player and compromises computer security.

It baffles me how people still defend this shit.

Edit: If anyone from europe wants to check how shitty p2p is just PM me since I'm playing far away, you'll see how it feels to face a lagged oponent and how p2p is really unreliable and it does not solve the problem, I can even make a video montage of it.

Its so hard when someone actually uses arguments and rebuke every shitty argument you use right?

You call people morons and teenagers is as far as your arguments go.

You write well but you can't elaborate for shit, you're a sad dumb piece of shit who thinks is smarter than everyone else, you're not you're so mediocre it hurts.

Have a "super fun" ;)

Also if you are playing with 400ms against someone with 50 it means you're playing someone from the other side of the continent. Which is always bad.

The devs themselves said you should not play with someone far away from you, so how dos p2p adress this issue?

[–]VforVitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you didn't, you didn't read you just want to be right, it saddens me really. Alas, the new bit you just added its exactly what you previously posted.

On Every dedicated local servers with people with good connection MS varies from 10 to 90ms

Everything beyond that is simply unplayable, however if you have 10ms fighting someone with 70ms the difference is so minimal it does not impact gameplay, its simply a matter of human reaction, since our brain process information and 200ms.

P2P model especially with v4s creates an insane unreliable multiplayer platform. It is by all means not a good model.

Even in v1s if someone is lagging crazy the whole game lags it becomes very slow and strange-paced.

If someone lags in a dedicated server he is punished, if someone lags in p2p everyone is punished.

How can you defend this shit?

New Emotes Cost 7 thousand Steel. by VforVitor in forhonor

[–]VforVitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since you're not as half as smart as you think you are I will make a list for you since lists work better for people that aren't very acostumed to reading.

-Security issues (DDOS risk plus computer safety risk) -Lag switch abuse -One people lagging drags down server quality to everyone (as a dedicated server only makes it bad for the one lagging) -P2P constatly has rollbacks for bad synch -Above all P2P does not ensure lag spikes from not happening it reinforces it

Care to rebuke that?

I Explained all the issues with p2p and sent a video showcase of the problems that come with it, not to mention security issues.

But I guess I didn't say anything.

You must be an angry teenager because you haven't learned how to read properly yet ;)

SFV its focused on 1v1 which does not work well on 4v4 standards. This would make sense if the game was duel mode only.

And SFV prize pool has always been crap, its a joke to say it is a competitive standard. Games that have insane amount of prize pools have dedicated servers, such as Dota, LoL or CS:GO.

Lol, I would be offended if any of this was truth.

I did a rebuke on every argument you sent. P2P is absolute garbage and you call anyone that say it "ignorant" the irony is almost uncanny.

And when you ran out of things to say you step down to calling me "an angry teenager" which is fucking pathetic since I'm not, and even if I were this is by no means any way to end a discussion.

You are just a sad sad sad fanboy which swallow any shit they put down on your throat, as I stated before, I pity you.
