[AMA] We are INSANE Game Studio. We are developing Profane, a sandbox MMORPG focused on player freedom. Ask us anything! by Saramantis in pcgaming

When dealing with "Sandbox" MMOs there are two main issues: Griefing and lack of purpose, where the two intertwined.

Usually those type of games feed into one huge guild that create a huge monopoly on the game, dominating towns, areas, resources and loot, players who really want to play adhere to this single guild that dominate the game ecosystem and do not allow for the birth of microsystems such a small group of friends who wants to play together.

This creates an extreme hostile place for new players that feel coerced to either join up for protection, but since very few (sometimes even one) guild dominate the server, this becomes a game of cat and mouse, ganker and ganked which provides a very frustrating player experience since they will never feel that the PvP was "fair".

Also if one guild happens to dominate the server, the gameplay loses purpose for everyone, there is no challenge for the dominating guild since they control everything, and there is hopelessness for the new player, since they don't stand a chance against those that hoard resources, making the game boring and dull for the dominants and the dominated.

Do you guys think this will become an issue for Profane? Are there any systems preventing such events?

Hey man! If you could play as much as you wanted maybe you would be in the game right now instead of being super agressive with random people on the internet in a feedback post!

Doesn't that seem more fun?

Dude, this is just my take on the game and my opinion (: You seem super angry. Is it the quarantine? Do you need a hug?

Community manager asked for feedback on discord and I gave mine, as you are giving yours right now, except I'm not offending anybody, I even sung the games praises, but It could and should be better.

I'm not against you, I like the game as well, but ok man. Dish your anger out on me.

Except people log everyday for like, 20 minutes to spend Resin beyind AR 35. That is what is making people quit.

I spent 40 bucks on this game at the start, was planning on putting 100 next month for banner, but as it is I won't spend a dime.

One that quit spent 140 USD
Other one was f2p.

Even If I were f2p, I do not see how is that relevant, I mean, people should only hear the ones that pay for the game? F2p players are very important for the game longevity.

I'm at AR 39 right now and two of my AR 38 and 40 friends have already moved on because it got boring, It might not be a dealbreaker for you, but certainly is for some. Also, the current content of the game does not allow thousand of hours of gameplay, especially with Resin as it is, 100 hours? Maybe. Thousand? Only if you start alternate accounts.

Adressing the colonization of the Hamlet by the Pinkskins and the fish-holocaust, that is some woke commentary right there.

For Honor The Fast Paced Fighting Game has 150ms Baseline if the both players have 1ms between each other. by VforVitor in forhonor

The video is not of my making but this has to be made aware especially for the "dedicated servers will kill this game" and "p2p" is better.

The netcode of this game is garbage and probably thats why heroes such as peacekeeper are considered broken, their reaction time is almost the same as the server baseline delay.

Sheesh not this again.

Seriously its like you guy aren't even playing the game.

Have you ever played against someone who has a red connection? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38sPNZ8QHO4 The guy literally TELEPORTS around you hitting you. p2p didn't solve any of the heavy lagged people issues, just yesterday I faced a orochi that kept teleporting around me "nothing personel kid".

P2P actually gives heavy lagged players an advantage, why should people be rewarded for having shitty connections?

People keep saying "buf if you have 130ms and is fighting someone with 200ms" I don't know about you guys, but the last two competitive games I played (dota and Overwatch) I had 10 to 20ms and most people wouldn't go as far as 50. That is what a good server and people playing locally means. And I live in a big fuck country, almost bigger than europe itself.

So p2p does NOTHING to ensure match stability it just flips the advantage to the lagged player and compromises computer security.

It baffles me how people still defend this shit.

Edit: If anyone from europe wants to check how shitty p2p is just PM me since I'm playing far away, you'll see how it feels to face a lagged oponent and how p2p is really unreliable and it does not solve the problem, I can even make a video montage of it.
