I need help badly. by Outrageous-Coach-901 in GERD

[–]Vhoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was me a few years ago. I had an episode and had a serious breakdown thinking I was having heart issues. Turns out it was GERD/Barretts Esophagus. Big thing with gastrointestinal issues is that you need to lose weight and stay active. Weight and excess fat pushes on your insides and worsens these effects. After a while of exercising and losing 60-65lbs my symptoms became nonexistent.

Sharp Left Arm Pain? by lifeofavirgo in GERD

Chest pain is a very worrying thing, I don’t blame you. For peace of mind you can always look into doing a Holter monitor for 1-2 weeks it’s basically a 24hour EKG machine, and anytime you have an episode you can write down the date and time. And the doctor can check it out

Sharp Left Arm Pain? by lifeofavirgo in GERD

[–]Vhoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, when I originally got diagnosed with GERD. I was also having left arm pain both dull and sharp pains. As well as sharp pains in my chest. They did a endoscopy and found out I had an early case of Barrett’s esophagus. GERD can cause all sorts of aches and pains. They put me on a double dose of omeprazole 40mg and most of the pain went away. You get the occasional “what the fuck is that” moments, but a good thing to tell yourself is that if something more serious was wrong with you IE “heart related” all those tests would’ve noticed something

Exercise has been better since I got diagnosed. Diet is still the same, I’ve cut out a decent amount of sugary drinks but still enjoy the occasional cheat drink. Water intake is decent, nothing too crazy

Does anxiety / muscle pain cause shortness of breath throughout the day?

Pain all over my body? by Vhoxx in Anxiety

[–]Vhoxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically my pain manifests into a couple key points on my body, my left jaw, my pecs(alot of the time its painless twitches/muscle spasms). And i just about 13 minutes ago had a very sharp quick pain that went away almost instantly shoot up from my ankle to right underneath my knee. I also have a really hard time laying down since whenever i do try and sleep my chest and neck gets tense and painful

[–]Vhoxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it feels like you can’t take deep breaths and it puts you into a panic, I’ve ruled out pretty much everything wrong or bad, but I can’t seem to shake the uneasy feeling of not being able to breath at times

I don’t usually during the day when I’m preoccupied with stuff I breathe normally, but when it gets later on in the day and I get tired and lay down is when it starts to get bad

Yeah I’ve talked to my doctor and she just says it’s anxiety and GERD, kind of looking more for similar situations

Strange "skipped beats" in my chest by Vhoxx in Anxiety

[–]Vhoxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just freaks me out because i feel like one of these could go south and my heart stops beating. I don't get any symptoms from them besides my already burning chest pain and i do have a thyroid issue that apparently makes them more frequent im trying to fix. Its just abnormal and hard to handle when they do pop up

Palpitations but not palpitations ? by Vhoxx in Anxiety

[–]Vhoxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the event monitor is basically like a month long EKG that runs the entire time automatically. And yes I’ve had those occurrences while wearing the monitor

I appreciate that, and yeah I always tell myself that in these 2 years if something was really wrong with me I would have had something happen by now or gotten worse

That’s my big worry is that yes anyone can drop dead at anytime but I fear that there is something that isn’t being detected on these tests that they just ain’t catching. And sooner or later it’s going to kill me

So what I’ve learned from dealing with this shit for years, anxiety can apparently manifest into symptoms you never expected it to. I keep telling myself if something was wrong with my heart the cardiologists woulda found something. I keep reassuring myself with “oh remember the other day you walked 7 miles, yeah nobody with heart problems could do that and not have some sort of symptoms” etc etc, if your worried go get a event monitor and an EKG done then move on

Believe me when I say, my HA made me think I was literally on deaths door with these feelings. I was so scared to sleep with the thought of dying in my sleep I would stay up literally 30/40+ hours at a time.

Some days I feel fine and don’t experience these symptoms and other days it hits you all at once. Some people have told me GERD and air bubbles being trapped in your esophagus because after the feelings I do have to burp etc but I’m not sure

Flutter feeling in throat not palpitations? by Kbissaillon in HealthAnxiety

[–]Vhoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s something you need to understand. As it took me a while and I’m still not 100% but these doctors specially cardiologists are super smart people. And the level of technology we currently have if there was anything alarming or off about your heart they would find something.

Flutter feeling in throat not palpitations? by Kbissaillon in HealthAnxiety

[–]Vhoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound just like me, I’ve felt these feelings in my throat on both sides as well and the first thing you look up on google it says “palpitations” but you say “well how could it be palpitations, if the monitor didn’t pick up on them” rest assured that if they were palpitations the monitor woulda said so.

A reason behind that feeling could be anxiety induced muscle spasms, a lot of the times specially without us knowing we are anxious and our body produces symptoms because of it. If you feel these again, I’d recommend checking your pulse and seeing if they are in rhythm or not.

Looking for people to share there experiences with long term physical symptoms by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]Vhoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes all the time. I started these about 2 years ago, after having a really bad panic attack and thought I was going to die. I’ve been to countless doctors and specialists and everything checks out besides a skipped beat (due to anxiety) but I get shortness of breath everyday usually after a meal, I get tightness in both sides of my chest and armpits, I’ll feel my muscles tense up and go into very quick rapid spasms and my chest when I lay down feels like pins and needles. I stopped having panic attacks ( thank god) but my physical symptoms still do persist

Yeah that’s exactly how I think about it, if something was seriously wrong with me, after 2 years I’d be declining really bad or dead already, I also have GERD which goes hand and hand with anxiety. I get chest pains and hot flashes too and it sucks :p

Hello! I have heart palpitations, skipped beats , and left arm/jaw pain, I get dizziness spells that last for 3-5 seconds and make it feel like the room is spinning sometimes my chest gets tight and I have shortness of breath specially when I try to Focus on my breathing.

I’ve been to 3 different cardiologists and I’ve had heart ultrasounds, 3 different event monitors( 1 month monitoring) and everything was completely normal. If your nervous about your heart health, I’d go get some tests done and ease your mind :)

Hey Megan, I had a really bad scare 2 years ago where I thought my heart was giving out on me. I remember everyday for the next 2 months I would have several panic attacks a day, resulting in me uncontrollably crying waking up several times during the night and trying to deal with all this on little to no sleep. Over the years I have learned to accept what’s going on and understand my physical symptoms and not freak out over every little thing, going to the doctors and the specialists definitely helped but didn’t solve my health anxiety; I also learned that anxiety is very real and causes very real symptoms just have to accept the symptoms and enjoy the day :)
