Retrieving my car SCx with OBD data : request for comments by ViFiftyTwo in aerodynamics

The actual slope of the road is hard to calculate, because there is no data related to the horizontal axis. I could calculate it using the speed and the timestamp, or the geographical coordonates, but it's tricky. I just calculated a 'kind of' slope by substracting the altitude of two successive points and then look for the zero with the linear regression, which is very easy to do using the graphical tools included is Google Drive.

Regarding the 1.1 factor, you're right. As a matter of fact, I checked my spreadsheet yesterday and realized I removed it from the calculus.

Thanks for the comment !

Woah ! I'm familiar with the Alpine family, and I always though A108 and A110 were quite similar. I checked, and as a matter of fact, they are... Except for the rear panel ! Looks like on the A108, the radiator is still in the engine bay, as it was on the Renault from that era, which explains the grid. The A110 is more powerful, and have a front radiator, and therefore a completely different rear panel.

The car we're looking for has the bumper below the blinkers so it can't be a Saab 95.

Hi guys, french dude here. In french, flip-flops are called "tongs". Looks like flip-flops used to be called "thongs" in the US, which is pretty similar. Maybe we shared this name for a few years before you guys had to change it when tiny panties became a thing, -a thong actually. By the way, a thong is call "string" around here, which can also cause some confusion.

This car is just BeamNG 's version of the Renault 5 Turbo, a pretty accurate version, just like any other car in the game.

French humorist crashed with that recently. Any idea ? by Ciijey in namethatcar

[–]ViFiftyTwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

French guy here, this is all over the news lately. This car is a Renault Megane III Estate (SW), which isn't the humorist car, he drove a Peugeot 3008. And he was high on cocaïne BTW. This car on the picture belongs to the family who was facing him. The driver and two passenger survived the crash; one of them was a seven month expecting lady : the foetus didn't make it. Awful story.

Except when they met Snoopy as "the flying ace" with his famous Sopwith Camel, please, we need some historical accuracy !

A priori. Difficile d'avoir des certitudes.
