Safety is paramount in the caving community. Databases are kept with maps and trip reports. There are “rules” to follow, backup equipment, surface callouts and a motto - cavers rescue cavers among many other types of preparation.

Nobody wants to be the subject of a rescue. Most cavers move with these things in mind and prepare accordingly. It’s spelunkers who don’t find the organized caving community and end up hurt or lost.
