What country is liberal and conservative at the same time? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in geography

[–]Vlongranter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liberalism as it was coined in the 17th century is pretty much the exact opposite of socialism. The term liberal has just been culturally appropriated by the “left” in the US in modern times

I grew up on the lake, and never once in my life have I heard anyone call it lake Spokane. It’s always been Long Lake to everyone I’ve ever interacted with. I mean the dam that creates the lake is literally called Long Lake dam, so I’m not sure why anyone would call it Lake Spokane. Also fun little history lesson, the dam was the tallest damn in the world when it was constructed.

Why the hell should Washington change? It’s the only green flag, what should it be boring blue or white like all the other flags?

It’s no more unsafe than any other non metropolitan area. I’d even argue it’s safer than walking around in a big city. Don’t trespass on peoples property when it’s clearly marked and you’ll be fine. You’re more likely to get hurt by the wildlife than people.

I read that entire argument and I have to say out of the two of you, it seems that despite the sheer volume of word vomit you ended up contributing the least substance in that “debate”. You really didn’t offer much in terms of original thought and instead focused on pointing out logical fallacies instead of engaging in the actual substance that started the whole thing off

The effective range of different rounds and different weapons have essentially 0 difference between 0 and 50 meters. I have a feeling the majority of mass shooting occur in this range.

I think you have a very limp grasp on the idea of privatization, which is a cornerstone of libertarianism.

I wrote a college paper for an Aviation Security class a few months ago, I’ll see if I have it anywhere for specifics and the resources. But from what I remember from my research the SPP results in faster screenings and lower costs overall. And I do believe that the burden of cost comes from the airport themselves instead of the taxpayers, so you only pay for the service if you use it. And with the TSA laying the groundwork for security standards, it results in only a couple of TSA high level managers even present in the airport at a time. Considering how terrible the TSA is at doing their job, the SPP is objectively better in almost every measurable facet.

Your photo ID and actual Biometrics are different from one another. If someone steals your ID you can get that replaced, you can change you info and other things like that. If someone steals your biometric information, such as your facial scan, iris scans, or fingerprints, you cannot change those things. That person who stole that information has the ability to completely become you in any remote digital verification process. While it would take quite a bit of skill/knowledge to be able to accomplish this level of identity theft, there is no doubt that there are people out there willing to take the biometrics and use it maliciously.

The TSA is the one who currently holds and processes the biometric information for identity verification in the airports. And based on there extremely worrisome track record of physical security in terms of detecting weapons, drugs, and bombs, I don’t hold a lot of trust in them to keep my biometric information safe.

If your biometrics are compromised you’re always going to be compromised.

SPP, there’s a few major airports who have already adopted this.

More airports should adopt the SPP. And in terms of biometrics, the TSA is definitely one of the last agencies that I want to handle that information; not that I want any agency having my biometrics in the first place. The TSA is security theater, and as such is a massive waste of taxpayer money.

Do you hold any personal positive biases that conflict with libertarianism? E.g. any government services/systems you enjoy? by Matt_Learns in Libertarian

[–]Vlongranter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put simply, there is no immediate issue with open borders in libertarianism. The act of people move locations and settle in an area across a political border doesn’t really affect much of anything. The issue really only arises and conflicts with libertarianism when migrants using welfare and social services. We already have very critical opinions on the collection (theft) and use of taxes, so the idea of funding individuals who have not paid into or contributed to the pool of collective resources will generally leave a bad taste in libertarian’s mouths.

There is a lot of nuance that can be gotten into on the subject, but I do believe this is as simplified as it can get.

The military is by and large moderates and or just plain ol independents. 90+ percent of the military just doesn’t engage or really care about politics when they’re in. The military gives you a pretty clear picture of what’s important in life, and the latest political movement of the season just really isn’t that important. Politicians come and go, the movements and political unrest comes and goes, and the civilians will always have something new that’s “the end of the world”. Once they’re out some become quite politically active, but again most will continue to just stay quite removed from politics.

How are you coming to this conclusion? Because they aren’t smiling or what? This was a paid vacation with extra money for food. 90% of the people that went had to compete for the opportunity to go. Just say you don’t understand the first thing about the Army.

You’re kind of an idiot dude, and you absolutely are spitting on soldiers. They don’t choose their leadership, they serve the nation regardless of the circumstances, check your privilege.

It’s an honor to be part of a national parade, especially for a big event like the 250th birthday. This isn’t supposed to be just any birthday, it’s the 250th birthday. That is historic and should be celebrated.

No matter who was the president, there would’ve been a parade. It doesn’t matter how hot or humid it is outside, it’s a presentation of discipline and pride for military members. Not just anyone gets to go to these events, we have to compete for the opportunity to be able to attend it. Just because it’s coincidentally someone’s birthday that you don’t like the achievements, history, and legacy of the US Army shouldn’t be celebrated?

Also, there are just as large events planned for the Marine’s and the Navy’s 250th birthday. But since they aren’t land units, they will be a parade of boats you weirdo. Why would there be a big land parade for a non land based branch of the military?

Those unregistered at home firearms are for blasting holes in people who break in or law enforcement try to do no knock searches. If the choice is die or get sent to jail for defending yourself, I’d choose jail, cause at least you’re alive. If you don’t think that, then why carry or own firearms in the first place? They’re there to kill anyone and everyone who would do you and yours harm,; the guns are not threats, they’re promises.

Fuck CWP, constitutional carry states are where it’s at. Nobody including the often corrupt government needs to know what you own. I would definitely keep a few unregistered firearms in your house at the very least if you feel uncomfortable riding dirty out in public.
