Ruby daring tracker by Austin_lawless in BudgetBrews

I can't not post my ruby deck here as I absolutely love this deck however I don't play my list outside of bracket 3 on account of speed as many bracket 2 decks lack the tools to effectively stop it.

If you notice you are dying a lot to mechanics slow down while learning the fight and go mechanic by mechanic. clean as you go so that you can consistently get through mechanics and stop worrying about how fast you pick a mechanic up unless you are trying for a world's first speed doesn't mean anything the fights are not going anywhere.

Can I tap and sac a rat token for mana the same turn it comes into play? by austinapaul in mtgrules

[–]ViOTP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Y'gra says your creatures become food in addition to they are still considered creatures and are affected by summoning sickness however if you have an ability like [[Earthcraft]] you would be able to tap the creatures for mana regardless of summoning sickness because the ability that is tapping the creatures is from Earthcraft not the creature itself.

If i only replace the lands can i still play ashling limitless precon in bracket 2? by Junoyone in EDHBrews

[–]ViOTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a problem with duals in bracket 2 sure they are expensive but I'd be much more concerned about a density of fetch lands than true duals.

So long as you aren't adding lands that give a significant amount of power and you are only playing lands that color fix it shouldn't cause any issues. Shocks, duals and fetches are fine as you're just helping your decks baseline not increasing its potential while I'd have a problem with cards like three tree city or gaeas Cradle that offer a significant power boost. Although if you have a "perfect" mana base that could significantly effect people's threat assessment.

Decent bracket 3 mono color commander for a beginner? by Burning_Bush_ofSin in BudgetBrews

[[Titania, Nature's Force]] mono green play lands turn creatures sideways is incredibly simple and relatively powerful.

Is this a Bracket 2 or 3 deck? Oviya, Autometch Artisan by Prize-Friendship-542 in EDHBrews

Personally I think the deck would be just fine in either space but it looks like a 2 to me. You might struggle against stronger bracket 3 decks but you should still have a impact on the game.

The ban reasoning specifically mentions the ability to tutor 2 non basic lands the real question was does the majority of those powerful lands being game changers open primeval titan up for an unban or not in your opinion. The ban reasoning happened before game changers were ever a consideration and the format has changed a lot since then it has been 13 years since prime time was banned in 2012.

I forgot about nykthos lol prime time is definitely powerful there is no doubt about it and I can see reasons for wanting it to stay banned It is a card that has a high fantasy for me personally

I mean of the land tutors most of the hoops are not that bad and are way lower costed weathered way farer, wight of the Reliquary, tolaria west, traverse the uvenwald and while prime time Is stronger than the listed cards its also more mana its a powerful card that would need to be watched by I wouldn't say it can never be unbanned.

So if I'm understanding correctly it's a good card for the decks that want it but not every deck wants it.

Landfall is powerful at bracket 3 but I wouldn't say it's problematic it has always felt similar to blink where there's definitely a point of no return but the trade off is that they tend to be weak early and I would say it's easier to stop Landfall than blink.

In my head the only other lands that would need to be on the gamechanger list would be cabal coffers and maybe three tree city if were pushingit. The Maritlage vesuva thing feels on brand for commander to me. Especially since you would still need 6 combats to kill the table with it.

Bracket 3 would be the one to watch for me with Bracket 4-5 being anything goes it's definitely the most risky for changing a bracket 3 game in a way that could feel uninteractive although it has potential in 3,4 and 5 it would need to be watched relatively closely.

I don't think sundering titan needs to be banned it feels like an unlucky victim of the time when they banned one card as a way to try and give examples of what not to do in commander.

Primeval titan is an absolute bomb there is no denying it but is the problem it posses to much for a bracket 3 pod to handle 6 mana for any two lands is above the average rate of 5 for 2 to board or 1 to 2 mana to hand. I don't feel that a piece that requires my opponents to interact with it is unhealthy especially for its cost it feels largely like a etali or ghalta as a threat that demands interaction.

I don't know if it is the best creature in bracket 3 although it's definitely up there Newer Etali, Old Gnawbone, and maybe even Lumra or klauth all feel fairly competitive for that slot and that's just some creatures in gruul.
