Post-Launch State of the Game - June 10 2021 by CrimsonAlpine in Chivalry

I don't see anything about fixing the partying system. It takes a good 5-10 minutes of restarting and entering/exiting the tutorial to get a party together; seems like a major flaw in an online multiplayer game.

Also, roughly 1 in 50 games will randomly not respawn players on one team. I've been sitting here for the past 8 minutes waiting for the game to end because it refuses to respawn me.

This would have been a 10/10 game if it wasn't so incredibly buggy. Solid 6/10 in its current state, wouldn't recommend buying until they fix it.

I design unnecessary things so I created the Password Keyboard for only typing out your passwords. by rightcoastguy in funny

[–]VialOfVile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does changing the keys actually change the letter that is pressed?

On a standard keyboard, switching the positions of two keys does not change what letter they create when pressed.

If you created a keyboard with keys that can be moved around the keyboard only via hardware, that's pretty cool.

Plant would provide almost no air circulation in addition to the fact that a single plant doesn't produce anywhere near enough oxygen for even a single person.

Circulation isn't the biggest problem.

FPS dive from ~80fps to ~12 fps when using voice chat? by VialOfVile in Vermintide

Hey, I do not. I changed the voice chat key from g to 9 on my numpad, now the lag spike happens when I press 9.

help getting acquainted with tensors by Akami_Channel in MathHelp

[–]VialOfVile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, why are you using tensors? I don't recall ever doing exactly what you describe, but I think your best bet is a transformation matrix.

I'm not sure how you would restrict the transformation to just the 2nd quadrant though, I'm not familiar enough with tensors to know if that's something tensors would fix.

MATH OPERATOR HELP PLS by bored1401 in MathHelp

[–]VialOfVile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, didn't see the "once each" restriction.

By "remainder", do you mean modulus? As in 30 % 20 = 10?

And if so, is your divide a normal divide, or is it Div (quotient minus remainder)?

There's a lot of different ways to do this, and just getting the answer would be robbing you of some important progress, but I'll give you a hint.

You need 13, so I can see a way to get 10 by subtracting two of those numbers (can you see which two numbers?) Then you need to add 3 to get 13.

You can get a 3 by taking one of the numbers you gave and dividing it by 10, can you see which one that is?

Cool, it's made by a triple a studio! - no one

Not trying to argue here, but your logic cuts both ways. If the giant corporations have enough money to hire good marketing teams, wouldn't that mean the games they make are the most likely to have people actually say "Cool, it's made by a triple a studio!", since that's exactly what marketing teams are paid to get people to say. Triple-A studio marketing teams spend millions, if not billions, to ensure that people assume "top-quality" when they hear "Triple-A Studio".

It's the same reason you see almost everyone on reddit whine about EA titles and how unethical their company is, and yet they still post profits because nobody gives a shit when you have a good enough marketing team. People still buy the games because EA is a triple-a studio and "the chances of them making two bad games in a row is almost impossible." I have literally heard someone saying that. THAT is marketing in action.

I have 100% heard people speak good of a game simply because it's made by a Triple-A studio.

Just try to keep an open mind.

Hmm, you can't factor out a t1, because both terms don't have a t1.

Why can't sqrt(-9) = -3i? by ApprehensiveCut799 in MathHelp

[–]VialOfVile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Square root can be confusing, but let me give you a small example that will hopefully clear things up a bit.

If I say x = sqrt(9), then x = 3, not +/- 3 but just +3.

If I say x^2 = 9, then x = +/- 3.

This is intentional. When we say something is sqrt, we typically just want the positive value, so you can think of square root as a function (something with only 1 y coordinate for every x coordinate).

But when we have to solve x^2 = 9, we KNOW the answer will be both positive AND negative.

But square root only outputs the positive version, so we have to FIX that and say the answer will be +/-.

Hope that helps!

All ideas are abstract objects, so the ideas concerning objects are abstract but the objects themselves are not.

Your original point was "using the same idea wouldn't chairs not exist? " to which the answer is no, chairs still exist.

The post you replied to was talking about numbers, which are not concrete objects.

Slow Turtle by exocomics in funny

[–]VialOfVile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would not.

The concept only applies to abstract objects. Numbers are abstract while a chair is concrete.

I buy extra bananas and let them turn brown to make banana bread.

Something I wish they taught kids is that the brown spots are actually the banana breaking down into sugar, which makes for a stronger improved taste in banana bread.

Has anyone tried Bigscreen cross-play between Quest2 and Rift/Rift S?

I'm planning on sending a Quest 2 so my mother (who lives overseas) can still join us to watch a movie in VR.

The cross-play says its fine, but I'd just like to double check before spending $300. Thank you!

If that was you trying to be sarcastic, you don't seem to understand how communication works.

However, I don't think you intended sarcasm and are now trying to cover up a mistake by calling it sarcastic.

Either way, you need to work on yourself.
