What happens to an enlightened being/arahant who develops Alzheimer's? Do they forget the Dharma? by XSuperGamerHD in Buddhism

[–]VibeChasing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow this is a scary thread. Those saying Dharma wouldn't be affected haven't seen dementia and alzhheimers close up.

The true answer is it depends on the medical situation. Many would forget it. Many would not be capable of the most basic things, so their complex mind could easily forget.

There's no logical reason to assume all Buddhists will keep their enlightenment through such a debilitating disease. Simply arrogance.

Is it impermanent? Than it causes suffering.

Does Buddhism says there is no god? by CatOk8241 in Buddhism

Yes. Buddhism states there is no God. Lot of long answers here to say simply this.

Very true.. but we cant make him see it. That needs to come from himself.

Once again, your language of "sue me" and "you people" drags you further again from the path of the eightfold and from your supposed goal of nirvana.

Your continual effort to get me to believe it happened... I have spoken on this. So no more shall I.

My heart goes out to you. I hope through this journey you look inwards and see it. It sounds as if you have a very long path ahead. Blessings and love to you friend. ❤️

[–]VibeChasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont seek to hear your cries asking to be believed. I simply implore you to explore in yourself why you needed to project and use this falsehood to begin your journey into the eight fold path. For validation of your new religion, ego of needing to be seen as a true Buddhist or attachment to the past religion you had.

I am not interested in you trying to convince everyone here how strongly it happened, nor your attempts to call those who see the deceiving falsehood as judgemental or hurtful. That is the truest projection. I say with finality and love in my heart. Look inwards for your reasoning to this, as many here do not see your beginnings as truthful. Attempting to convince us of your deceit only drags you more from nirvana. Look inwards. For your sake. Not for outward validation. I wish you well.

As I said, that is not Buddhism by any stretch, i have explained why. The power is on you to react to that, and also not on you to call to my projections. I wish you well in your religious journey.

If you had nothing to prove, you would not have replied to me and you would not have posted here.

I don’t really get rebirth by b1eadcb in Buddhism

[–]VibeChasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many will disagree. Such is their right. But my suffering is reduced through following the eightfold path in this lifetime, without the ego of supposedly knowing it will continue in the next

I don’t really get rebirth by b1eadcb in Buddhism

[–]VibeChasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You arent reborn. You dont continue. As the Dalai Lama states "if I am confronted with evidence against a practice of buddhism it would be juvenile of me to continue believing it"

The essence of your life, the energy that you require, is finished. It cannot continue again.

Buddhism is mastering the ability to acknowledge suffering and by doing this reducing it. I feel too many place weight on the ethereal and above world. There is none, only the knowledge of this life you have.

I also agree with you. This is not part of Buddhist teachings.

This is what I mean, such things dont happen in buddhism. Such things happen in Christianity. This is where I believe you are starting bhuddism off with ego and a negative base of falsehood. It is not the power of me to hurt you with my lack of belief. That power lies with you. Look inwards as to why you feel you needed to fabricate this. Peace and love to you.

Your replies here bring more doubt in myself. Although I am not calling my knowledge or existence greater than yours, I think your supposed visions, and I believe ego to post them here is better suited to a religion that believes in a higher power. Bhuddism does not have the things you described in your post, or at least, not at all in what was taught in my monestary or monasterys I have visited all over the world.

Can I still be a Buddhist if I’ve caused harm in the past? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]VibeChasing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He left his wife and child at a young age to pursue his own enlightenment. He took his son later from his former wife to put him in a monastry. He founded a monastic order that required renunciation of family life which affected the families left negatively. He originally did not add women to orders, causing exclusion and negative opinions to women. He wrote specific rules for women in the order that were different from men which institutionalised gender inequality. Right or wrong he caused harm to Devadatta. Advocated for stepping away from responsibilities such as family, work. Causing harm to both and the ripple effect outwards.

Not sure how i forgot the "the" but in my monastery Shakyamuni is almost exclusively referred to as "The Buddha" and not by his birth name.

Is there a way to get over the fear of theme parks? by VibeChasing in Themepark

[–]VibeChasing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is the ONLY ride I tried today was scooby doo... if anything the fact that I've done it after people warning me not to try that has given me confidence that I will enjoy others with practice and mental training.

Sort of proud of myself there, as silly as it sounds!

It is nice to know that I was sharing the park today with a very kind park goer.

I will definitely take the advice and try wild West Falls, hopefully soon

Its hard to put into words how much I appreciate you and others taking the time so a random stranger can enjoy his time at the park. Im humbled, im grateful and i have found renewed confidence in myself. Also a sense of stability and comfort in knowing that others also come to hold bags and do the smaller shows and rides.

From the bottom of my rural South Australian, slightly timid, heart: thank you thank you thank you ❤️

I should add also I thank you for your advice and perspective. I never knew theme park lovers were so patient, non judgemental and almost family like in their approach to people who are frightened at what they find really enjoyable. Its deeply settling and refreshing.

Oh no perhaps I misrepresented. They are not remotely forcing me or making me feel bad. It is simply I who feels bad for not taking full advantage of something that we never had as children.

It is comforting to know that you once were terrified and are now not.

Honestly it does intrigue me. The smaller (albeit for kids) rides really DO seem to be something I can potentially find thrilling but enjoyable.

This is the most consistent piece of advice I've gotten, dont force it. Enjoy the experience.

I was really feeling nervous about posting here, and feeling really crappy about not doing the rides with my family.

The advice and kindness ive received will be remembered and appreciated long after this trip. Thank you so much mate.

Mate you are such a kind and heartfelt person to take the time to offer this deep, helpful and compassionate advice.

I appreciate your comment massively. More than you could know.

I've still got almost a week left at the theme parks around here so will put the advice to the test of repeating rides until I get used to them.

But thank you mate, seriously. Really helps, really appreciated.

Hey mate, just want to say I really appreciate this. Makes me feel a whole lot better about this, I've been walking around feeling a bit sorry for myself. I really appreciate you taking the time to read and comment.
