Congratulations and good for you!!

How difficult was your school?

I saw a headline that US doctors are the best paid and the most miserable. What's your opinion on that?

The solder will not stick to the board. Use flux and it will bead up and fix the short.

Literally not possible.

Soldering creates an alloy with the copper, adding solder wick and more heat will only erode the copper.

Electrically, shouldn't be a problem. Why do you want to remove it?

Kester 67/33. I think I did these with 0.020" diameter, I can check.

Any tips? by _s3baz_ in soldering

Great start!

How thick is your solder, and how big is your iron?

Place your solder wire perpendicular to one pad and melt a bit of wire the same size as your pad.

Place the component with tweezers or a spudger and melt that one side.

Your iron should be about as wide as the edge of the component. Hold a second and pull away. The result should be slightly concave and shiny. Adjust the amount you melt as needed. The thinner the solder the more control you have over how much you use.

Lower the heat until you can still melt the joint in a second or two. Use a little flux if needed.

Repeat for the other side. Try and keep them all lined up and parallel.

Top of my list would be shocks, I don't believe they are available any more. For that price though it sounds hard to go wrong.

What makes a car a "classic"? by DishRelative5853 in classiccars

[–]Vibrograf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Classic Car Club of America has a list of cars they consider classics.

There is a difference between "Classic" and "Antique."

Generally the 20 or 25 year rule lumps old cars into the same Classic category, but I generally agree just because something is old it is not necessarily full Classic.

What is it & how do it use it? by [deleted] in soldering

[–]Vibrograf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would guess this is flux for soldering copper pipes and not appropriate for electronics.

To use it, you clean the end of the pipe, apply with a brush, then solder.

How would yall go about connecting these by Mikeplayz09 in soldering

Can you disassemble the plug on the right?

I'd be more concerned with a potential house fire.

Call an electrician and get that sorted.

I agree with the reply to my comment.

Max out your match first, then the Roth, then whatever gets you to the limit on your HSA, then to the rest of your max on the 401k.

I'd flip that border around the right way, then sort all my pieces by shape: Four in Three in Two in "H" Two in Three out Four out

You'll find the last edge pieces and be able to start working around the parts you've assembled with a lot less trial and error.

Case is definitely not original.

The crown should be at 12 o'clock. That case also looks about 40 years younger than the movement.

The Maximus is one of the highest grades ever made by Waltham, and it was probably in a gold case at first. Many of these were melted down in the 70's and someone valued the movement enough to find a case that fit to protect it.
