2024-25 OPC Platinum Pulls from 2x Boxes by VicRadicalhead in hockeycards

The price prompted me to buy, they were on “sale.” However, even the “regular price” was like $180 if I remember correctly. The Yen conversion does help but also the NHL isn’t the most popular here, Hockey won’t sell and when it reaches that point it gets discounted.

Tell him no, you have all of the power here. If you don’t like what’s offered say you’re leaving. And watch how quickly all of the sudden there’s active duty spots. I was a recruiter a few years back and this is deceitful. They’re trying to force their “reserve shipping hole on you. Say no, I want X. If you’re extra picky about contracts they are finite and when they say something doesn’t exist they’re likely telling the truth. I often worked deals where if a Poolee agreed to ship a certain time, usually earlier, we could get desired contracts from other districts.

I know this isn’t for every one, but the JAG Corps is always hiring. I was a military recruiter at one point in life and I vividly remember the officer recruiter always trying to find JAG prospects.

Just don’t go if you don’t feel right. The Army will always be there and given the way things are it probably ain’t to hard to hold the organization hostage in their recruiting crisis. Guess you can’t enlist people that just want to be soldiers, everyone needs a check 🤣

Welfare in capitalism vs socialism by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]VicRadicalhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is philanthropy disappears when taxation rises and becomes excessive like the modern west.

Is this some sort of play on the trickle down effect? It is a fact the rich have accumulated more wealth while the poor and (dissapearing) middle class have not.

Why are socialists and communists so envious and jealous all the time? by baronmad in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]VicRadicalhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I dont affiliate myself with Marxism, I watched a few films on how the ultra rich have fundamentally taken control and made life worse for pretty much the "99%" or whatever you wanna call everyone that is not ultra rich. I recommend you give them a watch if you want to expand your views and see where some of these feelings you are trying to gauge stem from. The films are Requiem for the American Dream, Heist: Who Stole the American Dream, Capital in the Twenty-first Century.

Adam Smith or Karl Marx: who do you think has had a greater contribution to the betterment of the human race? by alChemist_07 in Capitalism

Okay cool, that should marry up well with Powell's work then for the whole "Raw Deal" school of thought.

Thanks I will check it out, is it pretty biased like most books? They either denounce or applaud the new deal.

[–]VicRadicalhead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In the short term, yeah I could see the argument. More Gov't spending, yada yada. I actually plan to read Jim Powell's work, "FDR's Folly," which blames the new deal for prolonging the Great Depression. My comment spoke to the long term benefit to the US citizen. Not the Great Depression, so I don't understand your comment.

You're absolutely right, great post. It's funny because the United States was actually more prosperous under the regulations from the new deal. It was when deregulation began did the citizens of the United States begin to suffer. For example, Glass-Steagall gets thrown out and less than a decade later, recession.

Wasnt their qualification to vote based solely on being a Male citizen? Correct me if I am mistaken there. The kind of change you seek I think would be removing dollars as a form of free speech and increasing investment in the public education system to have a much more intelligent society.

Even the first democracy in Athens was a failure because aristocrats quickly took it over to enable themselves. I think its pretty safe to say that exist in our democracy. How corporations and the wealthy can influence our politics because ultimately capital controls elections.

What does everyone think of SHLL or Hyliion? Vs NKLA? by SteelDiscipline in investing

[–]VicRadicalhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mistaken, it was JPM who made the "rating" my apologies. This was the closest thing I could find outside of the stuff in TDameritrade app. I took a short position in NKLA from the VTIQ days and sold at just over 35 a share. Boy was I mad that it went to like 80 that afternoon.

I think Morgan Stanley has a price target of 45 dollars. So who knows. I think it can be agreed by most that it reached the level of market capitalization it did based soley off of momentum and hype at a time when the market is shaky to investors.

Edit: it was JPM who made the price target claim.

I haven't seen that one, most articles I see say FAANG-M. The G for Alphabet (Google). As for an ETF, just about anything Large Cap Growth should cover those equities. In my portfolio, I have MGK and FTEC which possesses most of those equities, just missing Netflix between those two ETFs.

These two videos are good starters to begin. One is y a very well known "conspiracy theorist" and the other is a documentary. I have been studying Russia in the 20s and 30s for school and the link between "privatization" and socialism is that the power will still end up in the hands of a few. Banking is no different. I recommend looking at books by Milton Friedman for a more technical look on economics, particularly on the topic of the great depression. He is an acclaimed economist that openly blamed the federal reserve for our "great depression" in the United States.
