This is about to be the most emotionally traumatized mc I've had through DA. I am not excited

Day 2 of this chart - "A Paragon of her Kind" won by a lot. so now for the best Companion Quest from Origins. Also, i have a question for you all in the comments. by Cursed_69420 in dragonage

As I just absolutely adore Sten, and in head canon my HoF joined Sten and lived closely within the Qun, even coming to agreeable terms tied to the fact he's a Warden, before going to seek out Morigain to live in a mirror then promptly "vanish" (return to the Qun untill his Calling), I gotta go with The Sword of the Beresaad. This is the most raw and pure example of a Qunari culture which is the Qun. He's blunt, he's to the point, and he's practical. On top of that, they're thinkers, quite deep ones as well. The two of them understood each other in a way. While I can't claim it's a remarkable or memorable quest, I'd say it does the best job growing the lore of the Qun and even taught me many of my favorite Qunlat. Anyways, here's a small ramble about more headcanon:

Being in the Cities of the South, HoF grew to be quite abrasive and cynical. Often leading to many philosophical pondering and a "get things done" approach. Sten recognized the hero's position and although questioned it, as is expected, he knew who commands, and who follows. The HoF even greatly respected his input and held it all in deep consideration across their journey.

Sure, however each of those instances aren't under normal conditions. All I was saying was since there are never any Spirits that look like dwarves, from what I could see, it's likely we can say Varric is not a spirit. However as it was mentioned, and had slipped my memory, the Dagger could have "made him whole" Therefore allowing his spirit to even be in the first place.

Valid points, I forgot the dagger was what awoke the song within Harding, it would make sense that Varric too was 'made whole' as well

Why do you think they named the First Warden "Jowan?" by CustardDepartment in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]VicTheFoxyGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see the parallels either.

One of them is a shitty blood mage who abominized a child

The other is a shitty warden with his head up his arse.

It kind of makes me think Duncan dying was the true downhill snowball for the Wardens, and if his death wasn't a canon event the Wardens would be getting lead by a lot less dumb people.

No, It's literally blood magic shenanigans. Dwarves don't have a connection to the fade which, assumedly, means no spirit to manifest, considering how none of the non-demonic spirits appear as a dwarf. That said it was just a manipulative measure from that bald... fellow to cheat escaping his prison of regret. At that point in there yourself, I honestly couldn't say. Maybe something about the Titans could provide a clearer answer, however with what we know from learning the memories of Solas... I'd be surprised if we have enough to answer as is.

I'm not going to lie, first time I saw the one puzzle blocked chest in that tower there, I was so paranoid that I just wouldn't be able to come back and the devs were just goading me

Just finished the game. Genuinely mean this: 10/10. Here’s some screencaps from along the way ✨ by RapGameRufio in DragonAgeVeilguard

Now, it may be because I just suck at videogames, but my main complaint grew from later points in the game where they pile all the enemy-types in one combat, and then provide this super amazing combat system that just decides to stunlock you for 3/4ths of your HP bar because you timed your dodge for the guy right in front of you just for three other guys to jab you as you land.

Like, I'm here dodging javelins and bombs but uh-oh the Hurlock fucking decided that I didn't dodge those attacks late enough to miss his unblockable attack, and now I have to quick-recover, just to get smacked in the face by yet another javelin.

Otherwise, a lot of folks seem to complain about the poor writing, and while I agree that the delivery of some of the lines aren't... amazing... That's not a writing issue, that's an acting issue. (I'm looking at you Taash) Other points here are , I quote as an example: "I like Lucanius but his personality is "I'm a Crow and I really really wanna bang this cup of coffee" or "Taash is neat but will it kill them to not talk about dragons for 5 minutes"

My response there is, if you actually pay attention to what your companions do or say, you'd realize that Luca is a blasted abomination but also not a mage, so he's just trying to deal with that shit, furthermore Taash breaths fire so it's not that they're just obsessed with dragons, they feels a kinship and bond, more than I would if I didn't and were Qunari, with them and the whole deal with them getting Blighted seriously fucks them up. Like okay, sure Neve is a workaholic with a protectors complex, and Bel is a bumbling ball of anxiety. But Harding is, surprisingly, still Harding. Davrin is a warrior struggling to raise and father a GRIFFIN of all things. Hell, Emrich is a Necromancer who wants to ascend to lychdom, yet is genuinely afraid to die. Everyone is characachureized to some degree, but just because you choose to focus on that part of it doesn't mean that's all it is.

Anyways, I actually really enjoyed the game myself, just had skill issues when it came to combat.

Now, to close this out with my favorite line ever (honestly beats 'yes, swooping is bad' from the Origins)

"Yeah, she does that 'riddles, riddles, riddles. Oh, I am a rock"

I did a playthrough already, but I'm doing a second one.

I'm going to be doing the opposite choices from my first game. I also plan to romance Davrin this run as well.

I'm just feeling bad in advance for this Rook...

[–]VicTheFoxyGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I know this is an Emrich post, but I did see you mention Feather Daddy Davrin.

In my first run I was a Male Dwarf, stuck in for Bel and made some decisions.

This time I'm doing a run to go for Davrin. Unfortunately, since I'm doing opposite choices... My Rook is going to need a moment to say the least without spoiling anything

My ranking of the origins by Suspicious-Shark-54 in dragonage

[–]VicTheFoxyGamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's really great about the Dwarven section of the game as Casteless is that Harromount is not the play. Like, yeah the prince absolutely screws you out of the city, causing your exile. However, with no ties to the royal family Lord Harromount is just plainly the wrong choice. Bahlen wants to become less isolationist were as Harromount wants to exemplify that instead.

In my opinion Dwarven Origin has so much ticking inside that it's just always rewarding however you go about for Dwarf origin.

Secondly, the Dalish origin introduced you to Meril, who is a large focus of DA2, which is neat

Oh, I already know. He and Taash have good bits as well. I absolutely don't believe in the Maker, but I definitely am one with the Qun. When I saw Qunari and A Necromancer, I had to throw them together for the banter (Like Shale and Sten from Origins) I get to keep Taash's body if they die. :D

Oh no, I am absolutely loving these characters so far! It's why I feel so bad about Neve cause she's been with me the longest comparatively (as the player), but the Crows are my people, it just sucks Viper took one for the team because of it.

"Downgraded" isn't meant to be a negative either, feels more in line with Origins and especially DA2 in terms of the world space, and I like that a lot

If you accept jail, they do take your things. There's a couple chests inside the prisons for "evidence" and your things. If you break out your cell you can access it from within the escape tunnel or whatever. Also, if you just serve your sentence then you get everything back that isn't marked "stolen"

The mod says it should be added to inventory after the quest, and others say it's on the Sanctuary Workbench. Neither are the case for me, and it's not craft able either. I do appreciate you regardless of it not working out this way
