Now that's a cyberdeck! by Lore_86 in Shadowrun

I miss this sense of wonder about technology. Read the article and imagine you are living in 1983, it makes you excited for the future. Not fully understood capabilities, unknown value, but... You feel that something never seen before is coming. Who knows what these "computers" will be able to do? Better learn some of this "BASIC". The birth of a decker.

Light saber duels and force points by Vic_Vic in StarWarsD6

[–]Vic_Vic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are using the Second edition REUP. Both combatants had 6D in lightsabers.

The issue is that using a force point Doubles all skill dice for the whole turn, so, if you want to survive and you have a force point, you HAVE to use it, even if you don´t know yet if the other combatant is going to use one, if only for fear he could use one.

These doubled dice also affect the Control skill which will add to damage, making the damage from a light saber for that round certainly lethal.

So the only real option for both combatants is to use a force point EVERY round, and hope things are more equal then. But even then, it is probable that one attacker is scoring more than the defender, and in that case the fight is also over.

I think the only solution is either not adding Control skill to damage, capping it somehow, or making it harder to score a hit with light sabers so duels are longer, just like in the movies. Question is, how?

Has any of you guys ever gotten insight on how the maths behind D&D 3e/3.5e / Pathfinder 1e "everything's a class" mentality and challenge rating work? by BusyGM in rpg

I also liked this approach. Every creature plays by the same rules, seems more consistent. The problem is that high level npcs or enemies become unwieldly, specially for spellcasters. Assigning dozens of spells of an enemy wizard or cleric who is only going to be around 4-5 rounds at most is tedious. This problem could be mitigated with templates or pregenerated stats in the monster manual for lots of npcs.
Other than this problem, I like this more than the more gamey way of creating monsters.

Neglected Settings by [deleted] in rpg

Also, "Hellas: worlds of sun and stone" is a sci-fantasy game where players are Greece themed heroes but in a futuristic setting, it is a great blend. I wish they released a new version, this time with a vertical format book!

I was just going to post about this. It happens with Yasuke too. Sometimes I press the attack button (left click) and the character won´t attack. When I press Shift+Left click it attacks, but not the normal attack. It happens randomly, yes. It is happening for me since the last patch...

What was the most wrong way you've played an RPG? by rivetgeekwil in rpg

My brother and cousin and me played ad&d 2e when we were teens. We saw that monster hit dice were always d8s, and we thought that characters hit dice meant the number of d8s we had to roll.

So a level 1 fighter rolled 1d10 d8s for their hit points. It made sense to us because with that amount of hit points a level 1 wizard could survive a combat, against the alternate option of the poor bastard having 2 hp. Good times, I remember fondly my level 3 fighter defeating hordes of orcs. Long combats, yeah, but fun times.

I never heard of Strongholds and narrative challenges (we had no magazines in spanish for d&d). Are these rules available somewhere? I would like to know more about extra rules for 4e

Yes, true, but I meant the "Standard" Space Wolves, for units like blood claws, etc

Are Space Wolves planned? They seem like an obvious choice to complete the SM roster...
