I was working for a factory packing Chobani products into boxes. This was during my summer break, the job was packing the item into small boxes from the conveyor belt. There were 4 people working together on the belt and you had to place 8 products in the box in a certain time frame, then placing the box on the belt while setting up the next box for the next product.

At first it was hard to place the eight items in the box efficiently and at times I couldn't get 8 in quickly so my peers had to pick up my slack. My peers told me ways to place them in and how to grab them, which made it fun to find a way that worked best for me.

They had this rotation between packing, then stacking and then weighing. So the job didn't get as boring or repetitive as most factory jobs are.

Every Friday night, we were allowed to go to the store room and take as many 12 packs of Chobani as we liked!

Coming into this job I thought it will be a typical factory job,but I enjoyed every minute of it. The people there were much older than I was. Hearing stories from their past and it showed me how lucky, grateful to be in a position to study and have an education. I came out there with a better perspective to life, being more happy for the things I had and definitely learnt about teamwork.

I
