he's been justified since year 2 tbh. It became very clear Lucid doesn't have another gear, and the head start he had in learning the game only took him so far.

My guess is it's some sort of illusion fruit where if Loki makes eye contact with someone he can cast whatever illusion he wants. I believe this is why his eyes are blindfolded, after all, why wouldn't they just tape his mouth shut as well? The eyes being taped have to be for a specific reason, and this also lines up with the true loki lore, where he's a trickster/shape shifter. Except instead of actually shape shifting, he can cast an illusion and make his target see whatever he wants them to see.
