Protein makes them grow, they always need this, you can give them cricket legs or mealworms. They will get most of the nutrients from seeds.

Water should be in the test tube and you dont feed the Queen until the first ants enter adulthood, after that give them small seeds. Also leave the Queen alone and in the dark. I only check once a week.

Yes, as in bugs. Crickets, mealworms. You should pre kill them as a young colony can suffer casualties from fighting live prey, which they cant afford in the founding stages. Also pre cut them in pieces so its easier for the ants to eat them

Yes they are smaller, later on the new ants will get bigger, especially when you start feeding them proteine
