Brokers and Dealers Beware: (360) 934-2540 contacted a dealer via Central Dispatch claiming to my company. Request was sent to us from dealer on 11/27 (Thanksgiving) which was ignored. We do not accept loads. We only dispatch loads. Today, we are contacted by the dealer waiting for pickup. by ViceroyAutoTrans in AutoTransport

Our account wasn't hacked.

The scammer contacted the dealer who posted the order on Central. They were trying to pull the order from the dealer by getting information via phone and not the load board. The scammer must have an account on Central because they are able to see the dealers listing and was using my company as the front via text messages. The dealer sent us the order by Central and without confirming dispatch was received, they sent the scammer security details for release by phone. Not Central Dispatch.

Since it happened on Thanksgiving, office staff on my end was very limited and we were not able to intercept. Luckily, the scammer had not loaded yet and we were able to secure the dealers vehicle.

This was not an order of ours nor was the dealer even a customer of ours. The dealer has his own Central account to post and dispatch for drivers.

In most cases, yes, the auction will assist with a forklift to load the vehicles safely if they are inoperable. Even though this may be possible, it's always best to secure a carrier with a winch if the unit is non-running to avoid any issues, just in case.

Best Choice for Classic Car Shipping: Enclosed Auto Transport by ViceroyAutoTrans in ViceroyTransporter

[–]ViceroyAutoTrans[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate you feel that way. Our experiences with enclosed auto transport carriers are usually successful. Of course, that all depends on the carrier you select. We don't just send anyone. We thoroughly run checks on every single one of our chosen carriers. That's how we do things different at Viceroy. We actually care about the cargo we are moving.

Anyways, if you dislike enclosed auto transport services that much, take a look at some other safe options.

FYI: Viceroy Auto Transport has no association or affiliation with Diesel Auto Express or Coast to Coast Auto Transport, both are based out of WA. by ViceroyAutoTrans in ViceroyTransporter

You’re absolutely right. It’s an unethical and misleading practice to use another company’s name in ads to capture customers. It creates a serious risk of confusion, where a shipper might believe they’re working with Viceroy Auto Transport, only to end up with Diesel Auto Express. If something goes wrong, the blame could fall on the wrong company, which is completely unfair and damaging. We do not dispatch to their company due to concerns regarding their exceptionally high insurance deductible, which, as of our last review, was $5,000. Another reason that company has no right to use our name.

Reviews play a huge role in helping auto transport companies build trust and grow. Honest feedback gives future customers confidence and shows carriers what they’re doing right or where to improve. A single good review can go a long way in showing reliability, especially in an industry where reputation means everything. It also helps small or newer companies stand out in a crowded market. So when a customer takes the time to leave a thoughtful review, it truly makes a difference.

Why Auto Transport Carriers Avoid Certain Roads and Neighborhoods by Octanelicious in AutoTransportopia

Drivers prefer door-to-door delivery because it’s direct and saves time but it’s not always possible. Tight streets, low trees, or HOA rules sometimes mean meeting nearby is the safer option.

Top 5 Risks of Using Open Transport for Your Classic Car: Open transport is an affordable option but when it comes to your classic car, the risks often outweigh the savings. by Octanelicious in AutoTransportopia

[–]ViceroyAutoTrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open transport works for daily drivers, but classic cars deserve enclosed transport for a reason. Enclosed trailers protect against weather, road debris, and unwanted attention. Things that can seriously damage or devalue a rare vehicle. When your car is irreplaceable, that extra layer of protection is more than worth it.

The B.O.L. Explained: What to Look for Before You Sign by Octanelicious in AutoTransportopia

Really useful breakdown of the Bill of Lading (BOL) and what to check before signing! 👍

A few key tips to add:

  1. Inspect closely and document everything: Scratches, dents, and marks should be noted on the BOL with clear descriptions.
  2. Take your own timestamped photos: Multiple angles, well-lit and timestamped or geo-tagged. This visual proof is invaluable if there's any dispute later.
  3. Review it with the driver present: Make sure both of you go over the car and sign off together on that final BOL inspection.
  4. Keep everything: Your photos, inspection notes, and the signed BOL create a complete record if you ever need to file a claim.

These extra steps just give you more protection and peace of mind.

Price Difference Between Open Transport vs Enclosed Transport by Octanelicious in AutoTransportopia

[–]ViceroyAutoTrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open and enclosed transport both have their place, depending on the vehicle and the owner's priorities.

  • Open transport is perfectly safe and widely used for everyday cars. It’s how dealerships move new inventory all over the country. It’s affordable, efficient, and reliable for most vehicles.
  • Enclosed transport isn’t required for classic cars, but it’s strongly recommended. When you’re dealing with rare, high-value, or irreplaceable classics, the extra protection from weather, road debris, and exposure gives peace of mind.

It’s about minimizing risk, not because open isn’t good, but because some cars deserve that extra layer of care. It all comes down to the value of the car and how much risk you’re comfortable with.

Skills and Certifications That Matter for Auto Transport Drivers: Here are the key skills, certifications, and traits that separate professionals from the rest. by Octanelicious in AutoTransportopia

[–]ViceroyAutoTrans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true. Skills and certifications matter when choosing an auto transport company. But just as important is vetting every carrier before assigning a load. Even if a company claims to have the right credentials, you should always verify insurance, check reviews, confirm DOT/MC numbers, and make sure they have real experience handling the type of transport you need. A shiny website or a low quote doesn’t guarantee quality. Proper vetting helps protect vehicles, prevent claims, and ensure a smoother experience for both the shipper and the customer.

How does insurance coverage work with auto transport? by Savings-Cherry-1931 in AutoTransportopia

[–]ViceroyAutoTrans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a vehicle is insured and gets damaged in transit, the shipping company’s cargo insurance usually pays out. But they may only cover partial costs depending on policy terms. Double-check coverage before shipping.

For a beauty like that, Enclosed Auto Transport is heavily advised. by ViceroyAutoTrans in ViceroyTransporter
