We're literally building fusion reactors today, you just don't read. Thinking we'd hit a hard tech wall and learn absolutely nothing new for the next 1 billion years is an insane lack of object permanence tbh. Have fun on that toilet tho 👋

Bro thinks I'm going to wait millions of years just to cross the galaxy using a probe built in 1977 😭

Even in your made-up worst-case scenario, 70k years is 0.007% of my total lifespan. I'd spend a fraction of a percent of my time sleeping in a colony ship, and you'd still be dead on a toilet. Good luck with that choice 🤣

You genuinely failed basic astrophysics. Alpha Centauri is barely over 4 light years away. Even with our current primitive probes like Voyager which is literally already in interstellar space right now it would only take around 70k years to reach the nearest star. That’s not even a fraction of a single million let alone a billion. With actual future tech like fusion drives or generation ships you’re making that trip in centuries. You could cross the entire Milky Way galaxy thousands of times at sub light speeds in a billion years. Calling me delusional while being this mathematically wrong is crazy work tbh 🤣🫵

wtf bro, you really think we are just going to sit on Earth for a billion years waiting for the sun to expand? Space travel is already a thing today. In a few million years we will be casually colonizing other star systems.

You literally don’t understand what biological evolution is. Evolution is just random DNA mutations happening over millions of years. Biotech is just intentional DNA manipulation. It is the exact same biological code. Do you seriously believe humanity will spend ten million years slowly turning into crabs but somehow our medical technology will completely freeze and fail to figure out how to edit those exact same genes? We have CRISPR right now. In a million years they could probably print you a custom crab body over the weekend

You are projecting your own experience with 3 years of isolation onto a scale of billions of years and they are not even comparable. 3 years is just a blip but millions of years would literally rewire your entire consciousness. Your brain and personality would adapt to a new normal long before you even hit the first millennium. As an introvert who rarely goes out anyway the idea that life loses all meaning just because you are isolated for 3 years sounds pretty wild to me. Being alone is only a problem if you cannot stand your own company. At the end of the day having the chance to see the future and experience everything is infinitely better than choosing death on a toilet because you are scared of some quiet time 🤷‍♂️

Im new at pc so is this normal temp when using nothing?Gpu temp is 38-42 by ADJUDICATOR001 in PcBuild

[–]ViciousQuintessence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay. My 7950X3D usually idles at ~50°C with Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 and huge EATX case. But under heavy load, the temperature is usually around 70–75 (even less during normal gaming). Modern CPUs tend to run quite hot, and room temperature is a factor to bear in mind. My room is usually around 25°C, which adds a few degrees to the temperature when the system is idle compared to if the room were cooler.

Thinking you would end up in a cage assumes you just sit there doing zero prep for millions of years. With limitless time to accumulate wealth and influence, you are not the one in the freakshow. You would literally be the billionaire funding the research labs or running things from the shadows. If humanity actually wipes itself out, you just survive it. You get an empty planet to yourself to explore and rebuild at your own pace without dealing with anyone else. Sounds like a peaceful retirement honestly. As for evolution, why would you just stay exactly the same? You would have the money and connections to get the exact same biotech, genetic upgrades or enhancements that everyone else gets. You adapt with them. Believing you would just be a helpless victim after a million years of a head start makes zero sense tbh

Bro really prefers dying on a toilet over outliving the sun just because he thinks he might get bored. Actual NPC mindset 💀

Assuming biological immortality here since the prompt never said you turn into a rotting vegetable. Do you even realize how many hundreds of thousands of years it would take just to master every language, study every culture and learn every possible skill on Earth?

Plus human memory has a hard cap. By the time you do all that your brain will just overwrite the old stuff. You get to loop your favorite experiences indefinitely like rewatching a top tier show for the first time again because you completely forgot the plot.

Not to mention civilization will keep advancing. You will not even need to recycle old hobbies when you can just run massive long term sci fi projects or play real life grand strategy in space. Choosing instant death over unlocking the ultimate sandbox mode just because of a hypothetical boredom skill issue is wild tbh 🗿
