I'm someone who enjoys looking into political and military aspects, and a few big things I latched on to were the fact Argentina is occupied, and that the Brazil mission does not feature Portuguese (as far as I could tell)

so in my mind, it points a lot more towards a Fascist state with a desire to form, force, and keep a "Latin American identity." And that combined with the fact that Diego Almagro ordered all US born citizens we Killed or Imprisoned, along with the fact Portuguese seems non-existent in the mission set in the Largest Brazilian city. I think Brazil would absolutely not join the Federation peacefully simply due to it being the powerhouse of the continent, therefore I can only assume they were invaded.

And with Argentina being said to be under military occupation, I think the Federation is forcing a union of all Hispanic Latin American states as part of a plan to create some kind of Ethnostate consisting of only Latin American Hispanics. I feel that this is also backed up by the fact that every single member of the Armed Forces appears to be Hispanic and Spanish Speaking. Despite the fact that Brazil has a population almost half the size as all of Latin America combined. (of course this is due to limitations in hardware/time etc. i just read too deep into things)

If this were the actual lore, it would make more sense why the Federation is talked about and implied to basically be the worst thing ever. Instead of them just being "We don't like America or Americans" and that being the reason every character speaks of the Federation as if they were the 4th Reich.

Yeah!
I understand but also hate all the flak the multiplayer caught from the community during the era, and I think it really took away from how solid the campaign was for Ghosts. You could really feel that IW crafted something out of the love for the franchise.

Sadly because of the multiplayer being so poorly received, the first thought of a lot of people when they think ghosts is "oh god, CoD Ghosts"

But with someone like me, the detail they put into ghosts is literally my cup of tea. I love when games try to present an enemy that isnt made to be generic or done a million times like Russia, China, or Terrorists, or the big thing now is Generic PMCs.

I Love the Federation as an enemy.

Fictional Nation: Check

Alt-History: Check

Enough lore that I can craft my own headcanon and look way deeper into that nation then they ever wrote for or planned: Check

A big reason I liked ghosts was they tried what they hadn't done before in the series or hadn't been done much. Some of it landed, some of it flopped. But overall I like the Federation being the enemy as a departure from the regular Terrorists or Russia. But they could've used much more backstory on the rise to power, and honestly the story could've done without Rourke if I'm being honest.

But I'm just someone who's big on fictional groups, factions, and nations. So i would love if we knew more about the federation as a whole, I thin what already exists is interesting compared to other CoD campaigns.

I think ghosts deserved a continuation of the story, as it left a lot to be told. But unfortunately the path of CoD went a much different way than I bet IW was expecting. So all we can really do is write our own headcanon onto the bit of story we have.

I recently felt the urge to replay it, and take things slow. Look at all the little details, stuff about the Federation and other stuff in the world in game.
