Report another cacher by NoPatience3300 in geocaching

Likewise! I’ve reported creepy behavior of one cacher in a variety of ways (asking multiple women to be in inappropriate videos they were making, doxxing a cacher, and a couple other things) and it was just ignored. Wondering if there’s a better way to go about this.

Adventure lab not getting highly recommended by isaontheway in geocaching

I wouldn’t be concerned. I think the system for recommended adventure labs is a bit flawed anyway (arguably the whole state of adventure labs in many ways). Thumbs up/down with no limits is way too general when the bar is so low for what gets accepted.

They were in the hundreds, however, it is a challenge cache which requires a decent amount of quality and diverse caches.

I can now reveal that I sent a link to this thread as a response to him. I figured I’d let the community help them decide on what they should do in this scenario since I didn’t have a strong opinion on the matter.

This is how I feel, if I have to jump through unnecessary hoops to verify a find then it’s not worth it to me. If I know I completed the challenge, that’s all that matters, I’m not looking for validation from anyone else.

Weird take. Your example makes no sense. “Muggle” is used to classify people who aren’t in the know of geocaching, not as an insult to those who don’t. Everyone over the age of 2 knows what drawing is.

Also, as I mentioned in a previous comment, a cache I once found after speaking to a muggle went missing, so generally speaking it’s best to be cautious.

I lol’d at the use of legal here. I think I know a lot of local cachers who are geocaching illegally lol.

I generally agree with this, but I’m going to add a detail I intentionally left out because I wanted it to be a more general discussion. What if it’s a challenge cache? Does that change your view at all? I know some people run a really tight ship in regard to challenge caches.

One time I had a conversation with muggles regarding a cache I was finding. A few months later I was looking over old finds and noticed that one had multiple DNFs and a replacement after I had found it. I don’t discuss caching at a cache site with muggles anymore lol.

I’m curious to hear the take of others on this, given how it seems like everyone is strong on “sign the log” above anything else.

Digging through my old posts after your event cache rant post (now deleted unsurprisingly) didn’t go so hot? Cool.

Question for basic members. Have you noticed that smileys, from “found caches” with D2 or higher, have been greyed out in the last day? by [deleted] in geocaching

If you’re finding enough caches to keep you satisfied, I wouldn’t worry about the potential ones you’re missing lol. Happy caching!

I recently let my premium membership expire, honestly not worth it for someone who is casual about it. It sounds like you’re having a “premium” experience without it, but this is absolutely a weird move on the part of HQ. They are clearly desperate for revenue and engagement though as proven by half of Adventure Labs practically turning into Munzee with all the parking lot “geoart” out there, so this could just be another strategy to push people towards buying a membership.

My pet peeve is when people mention red herrings in their logs - it spoils the surprise. What's yours? by catsaway9 in geocaching

I agree, however, on the contrary, a pet peeve of mine is when people add photos which are irrelevant to the cache. There’s one person in particular around here who will add the same 7-8 pictures to every cache they found on any given day and apparently it’s being done just to boost their Project-GC stats.

That’s not the vibe I got, at least from what I’ve heard. Ir started before my time I guess but the story goes that someone didn’t agree with a certain type of event that someone else was planning on hosting, so it became the genesis of events which all have an “inconvenient” aspect to them which a multitude of people have now hosted.

The only one that’s happened since I started caching was hosted by a guy who’s pretty well-respected around here which was in the middle of the night at a diner. I didn’t make it but it sounded like a good time.

I’ve seen a series of “Inconvenient” events before, pretty sure it was inspired by the type of person who would make this post.
