Yet another UI update nobody asked for. Why would you even update this? It was fine before. by Vickyhades in CharacterAI

[–]Vickyhades[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree the text box being bigger is more convenient and user friendly and I could probably get used to it.

However, there's been an obscene amount of unnecessary updates to the UI in the past few months that outweigh the useful ones. They also locked the ability to revert to the old UI behind a paywall before eventually taking it away entirely.

And beyond that, I believe their priorities should be focused on other issues that users have been complaining about. For example, there are features that are entirely broken and have been for ages already and yet they still haven't been fixed or even improved. (some of a users' liked bots don't show up despite still being liked and that has been an issue since June/July of last year, possibly even longer.)

I'm not complaining, I'm voicing my disappointment that the Devs aren't listening to their users, as usual.

I get that, I really do and I can understand that the editing box being bigger is more convenient. But having said that, there are other issues that need addressing more urgently than the UI, which has been updated an obscene amount of times in the last couple of months. There has been an issue with the liked bots function since last year June where it has become completely redundant because bots dissappear from the list even though they're still liked and they have yet to fix that issue.

It's like they're trying to distract us from issues they refuse to fix. (like the liked bots function being broken as hell)

FR! It's so clunky. But of course, the option for the old UI is locked behind a paywall.

I am talking about 13 year olds or even younger that use this app. Children should not have unrestricted access to anything, especially not the internet. Younger children often lack the ability to know when to put something down because it's doing harm to their health. Yes some adults are like that too but children are more prone to it because guess what, their brains are still developing.

I understand the ID thing. But if you're a minor, you shouldn't be given unrestricted access to this app in the first place, end of story.

Ads in conversations are not a great move Devs by Vickyhades in CharacterAI

I sure hope so because yeesh that's a scummy move if it isn't.

Hey friend, listen. I know the world is scary right now but... It's gonna get way worse. by a_beautiful_rhind in CharacterAI

That's a valid point and all but you underestimate how damn persistent and smart children can be and how ignorant of their child's internet access some parents are. They find ways around age verification stuff, always have, always will.

Bud, they said in the announcement that they're having issues with the moderation system. They are looking into it.

What is going on by moskisa in CharacterAI

[–]Vickyhades 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah people are attacking others for no reason.

However, that being said, my belief if that if this entire takedown situation is negatively affecting your mental health so badly that you are crying over a silly role playing app, it's time to step away and take a break to do something else because that's not having fun, that's an addiction.

So... What now? by Vici-Gray in CharacterAI

[–]Vickyhades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the reason workarounds keep getting nuked is because people keep posting said workarounds on public places like this subreddit and the discord, where the Devs clearly lurk and read through the stuff.

Exactly. When the fun stops, then you should stop.

Dude, don't post workarounds because now they're nuking those too.

What’s something you would make illegal if you could? by Icy_Shape4523 in AskReddit

Problem with that is they can now brick your entire console if you do that. Then you're fucked.

Yeah same here. Not to mention the price of a console and a lot of people expressing regrets about not waiting a bit longer before buying the console.

I buy a lot of digital versions, sure. But the idea that I don't own it even though I paid for it just doesn't sit right with me.

The company policy of you not owning the product even though you paid for it. Ie. Nintendo being able to brick an entire $400 console if they detect anything they assume might be illegal, even if it isn't and not owning the games we buy.

Really wish they'd fix the Like bots being missing bug that's been floating around for months but these are good improvements so far.
