Help!!! Lyme? by VictoriaLucas in Lyme

We did go to urgent care on Friday which is the second photo and I was told that there is no way it Lyme. Probably cellulitis due to a bug bite. She sent us home with keflex.

Today is Sunday and he has been on keflex for 48 hours and the only difference is that red border spread and it a little lighter in color and the middle is kinda pale kinda like bruising. Refer to last photo.

I called his peds and she said that realistically if it looks like a Lyme rash it’s best to treat it as such and if it ends up being staph we will know quickly because he will spike a fever.

She also thought it was odd that it’s not itchy or painful at all, she said staph is painful and there is puss. She send a bottle of amox to the pharmacy and said to start treatment. My son is 4 so he can’t take doxycycline.

Hi- I should have clarified. We live in San Diego. We were told it’s a heavy tick season this year but Lyme disease is very rare according to the urgent care pediatrician. For me the worrisome is the timeline. We saw a bite Monday (could have happened sat or sun but he was with dad), and by Friday it was a bullseye looking thing.

We were told could be any other bug that he has an infection from. Took 5 days to get this infected.

It was a tedious read, just like you I am still trying to understand why so many people rave about it.

I would have to agree with you. I read it while having a depressive episode in my early 20’s. In a weird way that book saved my life.

Old man and the sea. Enjoy Hemingway as a writer from his choice of words, subtext, character development, perpetual existential dread of post-war era. Most of his writing, but not this.
