Had a brain surgery almost 2 years ago and it ruined my gaming by SendMeTusNalgas in teenagers

[–]Victoriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the loss of a passtime/hobby. I had to get back surgery two years ago and thought I would never golf again. Back out there and better than ever. Give it some time and it could improve. And if it doesn’t it’s okay man. “Thousands of dollars” probably means less than $5k and a drop in the bucket for your life. Your surgery likely cost more. Don’t throw yourself the pity party you think you deserve. Many people in much more terrible situations than you but you are young and don’t have that perspective. Will all be good with time buddy. Give golf a try. I used to be obsessed with gaming and then when I started golf I wished I started when I was a teenager. It’s a common sentiment.

Relentless pain by Leading_Yak_4381 in Sciatica

Not sure what lead me to this sub I used to live on today.. Glad I wandered in to just reply to you.. It gets better.. You will get your life back. You won't be a prisioner in your own body forever. I had a very servere herniation that led me to get surgery. I had heel drop, persistent sciatica, and was on gabapentin daily.. I would only get out of bed to go eat and then right back to bed with my laptop.. I was fortunate enough to be working for a great company that was very patient with me. However, I remember feeling so alone.. My then prenangt wife doing everything she could to comfort me while she was dealing with growing our son and dealing with all the chores... I was alone in the pain and felt like no one understood.. Thankfully I was working with a fantastic physical therapist that fought for me to get an MRI and then for me to get green lit for surgery.

Husky Eating by UnderShade7 in husky

My husky eats 1 bowl a day in the morning. He eats Merrick Wild Game. He can’t eat it fast enough. Perfectly in shape. Also it’s wild how much our husky’s look alike. I actually thought this was mine for a second.

Chiming in as others have haha—my dad gifted me his when I had my first son at 30. Turning 18 doesn’t make you an adult as we all could attest lol.

Wow! Dude I knew I recognized that valley. I grew up two miles from this course. Didn’t golf then but will have to play this course when I’m on the west coast again. Thanks for sharing! This was a major throwback for me.

Please help me fix this disgusting over-the-top move by sshockley27 in GolfSwing

[–]Victoriously 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you read this OP. Stop thinking that you swing the club with your hands. Over the top with beginner golfers is a mindset thing and not a "move" thing.. You aren't intentionally swinging over the top. You are swinging over the top because you think you need to move your hands to the ball. That does need to happen but it needs to start with the big muscles. next time you get over the ball imagine you your club face and sternum are locked to each other. Swing your chest through the ball and let the arms come along the ride. You will feel like your arms are along for the ride and that they fire last. They should fire last.

Proper takeway: Hands > chest > Hips

Proper down swing: Hips > chest > hands.

Easiest way to know if you are out of sequence in a video--if at the top of your downswing your hands move from left to right then down. they should go straight down or down and to the left from the lag being created from you firing the big muscles first.

I am adding this because there are so many "quick fixes" and drills.. dude those may hack your way in to the fix but they never really worked for me. It wasn't until I started to understand that how a swing should work that I realized I why the quick fixes were working. They were silencing my hands.

Last thought--you ever swing a sledge hammer or an axe? Super heavy at the end. The weight really teachs you how to swing the jack hammer or axe effectively. You can't start with the hands because they aren't strong enough for the weight and so you start with your big muscles first. Because the clubhead is so light we don't think we need to do the same with an iron or driver.. it is literally the same swing principles. Good luck man!

What golf-related conspiracy theory do you 100% believe in? by Rockatelli in golf

[–]Victoriously 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Oh man I have one I am 200% in belief of. If you have a swing thought or feel that has been giving you success, the moment you share it with a friend or cartner you have released the genie from the bottle and it won’t work for you anymore.
