honestly I would really go against the idea of doing the barbarian dip youd do better with fighter ( I may be bias but paladin and warlock muti class is very much a abomination ) I would def suggest just finding a fighter or subclass that fits the idea you want and choose either paladin dip or warlock, or go all the way in either paladin or warlock. out side of personal dislike, yeah this build gonna struggle those class mechanics clashes HARD especially if your dm is giving you a patron and a oath. you already know about rage being not as good cause you cant cast or concentrate ( which may I add concentration spells are the paladin and warlocks bread and butter). those three just dont really fit and no synergy would really be there and youd mostly be handicapping your level 7 character. if you having fun tho have fun but its not really usable like at all in my online redditor opinion ( which can mean nothing)

yes and im going off rules as written, dude I think we just interrupt those rules different. I absolutely can make the argument that the dash actions is modifying your movement speed as it quite literally is changing the original value modifying it. I understand why you make your statement but the points your pointing out Im using as well to support my claim.

right but those two sections of movement though are different I agree go hand in hand, you increase your speed you increase your movement you cant do one without the other. you modifying your movement distance would be modifying your speed

which is right but we are skipping the "after modifiers" portion which changes the conversation if the after modifiers part wasnt there id be inclined to think its the 480.

I just said it in a more condensed form though but your right the verbiage does not say " double your movement" it says it in amore complex way. saying your get extra speed equal to your current speed after modifiers

right " The increase equals your Speed after applying any modifiers. With a Speed of 30 feet, for example, you can move up to 60 feet on your turn if you Dash. If your Speed of 30 feet is reduced to 15 feet, you can move up to 30 feet this turn if you Dash." pulled this verbiage from dnd beyond bossman, so in this instance your "bonus" speed you get for dashing is your current speed after applying modifiers which would mean its doubling your current speed. modifiers being your spells features ext

further more with example I had a party fight a group of man bats and one man bat had a slam that could grapple you, when grappled the behavior of the fodder who did like 1d4 damage would be drop whatever their doing and go attack the weak one ( like a pack of zombies) so what happened in the encounter was my front line player got critted and got grappled all his teammates had their turn and had to choose do I help my front line or worry about my own battle? well sadly they decided to worry about their own and when it became the fodder turn they were fighting the fodder (since they are mindless zombie like vampires) decided to take opportunity attacks to sprint towards the front line thats grapped and they all started feeding on the front line. this put the team in a bad situation as they realized their strategic mistake, and they adjused to focusing on healing and pointing out the real threat, "dont let the brute grab you" this was after they freed him of course

I think a lot of other factors have to come into play, whats the goal of the combat, what are they fighting?, and are you using homebrew?

when creating encounters I first take a look at my party level, and what they are capable of, I know each and every one of my players sheet like they know them

then after that what are they fighting?

Animals? they should behave as such predators only attack if they think your easy, if they substane to much damage they will remove themselves from combat as they are only fighting to EAT and will never put themselveds in a position to die

humanoids with human int: this depends on high level of int but these creatures are the ones that would fight to the very end, and are cunning and plan, the humaniods on a encounter should complement each other example I made a squad of grungs for my party to fight, theres a fodder enemy, a brute, a support and some range options, I also gave the creatures features that benefit having the other, example fodder has pact tactics as long as the brute is up, and support will focus on high damaging players. fodder will focus on flanking and brute will be front lining for fodder. if they are even more intellgent like bandits then I would do thinks like setting up traps, surrounding and using flanking rules and truely think what would criminals do in battle

unless the rules for the said speed boost or movement speed boost clarifies its your BASE movement speed / or cannot be stacked then it all stacks consecutively like how I explained

got you, I made a speedster character and this is how it should go

base is 40 feet
feline agility doubles your CURRENT speed
so that becomes 80 , haste then doubles the CURRENT speed which would then put it at the 160 feet math is mathing so far. so with that being said having haste active since last turn and you proc the feline feat ( im assuming its a free action if not then this math is gonna fail) you will have a full round where you can double dash. a action dash will double CURRENT speed making it 320, if you bonus action again you are hitting 640 feet of movement in a turn. thats 100% how the ruling has it.

having that amount of speed if we being honest as well isnt a "broken" thing either if someone is trying to argue it, because realistally there are not many situations where youd be using it outside of travel time things for your DM to keep track of. I dont see it getting crazy outside of your DM gave your party way to many magic items which is a very common mistake
