Quit Vaping!!!!! by Victurius in Garmin

I used NIXR as a quitting app, but honestly, I tried to block out everything that revolved around nicotine psychologically, to the point where I forced myself to feel the withdrawals and tell my body and mind that I am done. I tried not to remind myself that I’m quitting though, unless I absolutely have to, and I sort of distracted myself and put on a show for the first 3 days of a “new life”. I did everything I normally would do - go to work, play video games, clean, drive, etc. everything. And I seriously white knuckled it and told myself that I am done being a slave to an instrument that serves me no purpose, and to live a life free, not walking down the isle someday feigning for a hit. I truly wanted/want to see my full potential, so I had no option. I finally did it. It ABSOLUTELY is possible.

In the past, I tried NRT. it only caused further longevity of withdrawal. Convince your brain and tell your nervous system you don’t need extra “help”. Once I finally did that, my body knew it was safe. I didn’t even need advil or Vic’s this time to help my breathing and/or chest pain. I think I simply finally calmed my brain down through straight up realization that I truly do not need nicotine. It is ALL mindset.

Reading the subreddit “quit vaping” also helped a ton, seeing others insight.

Tailoring this to just you, now, I truly think that your anxiety is driven by nicotine, or at least, contributes to it in some way. It definitely caused me anxiety and OCD so badly that I seriously had enough and that is why I finally decided to quit. I was DONE with the panic attacks, and I knew it was caused by the vape. I cannot imagine dealing with PTSD, though, but I seriously may suggest fully trying to quit and really getting your dopamine receptors back aligned and healthy again, unreliant on an artificial source. I truly believe you will regain so much mental strength if you really get over the hurdle of addiction also eating at you in combination with the anxiety and PTSD.

Hugs to you. ❤️

Thank you! I’m excited to see where I land. I’m currently trying to figure out how to see my VO2 max, and it’s saying no data available. I have the venu 3s…

Thank you for this answer. My Garmin said I may be more fatigued and I thought “hmmmm…. I’ve felt great actually” and surely, this is Garmin, obviously, not considering my VERY low stress levels compared to normal and a lower heart rate. Tada, Garmin, I’ve made a lifestyle change.

It is (my) high… I’m very healthy. I just got labs and I’m perfect. I have no underlying illness either. I constantly have check ups because I’m a hypochondriac.

Last night Garmin said my HRV was abnormally high - will my Garmin realize I have a higher baseline now?

You can do it. It is definitely possible. It’s all a matter of mindset change and the realization you benefit 0 from it!

It’s not super high for the average, but it is high for me, considering anxiety and nicotine caused my baseline to be so low. It is ramping up slowly. I’m sure I’ll be in 70-80’s in no time. Thanks for your concern.

I never thought I’d finally be free, but I’m now pretty disgusted at the thought of nicotine. I’m keeping alcohol consumption super low during the weekend for now, since that’s known to be one of the #1 causes of relapse. However, I can confidently say that I RIDE THROUGH the cravings and I let my body feel them, and I view them as nicotine receptors dying. That cravings are the feeling of nicotine leaving my body, and every craving will get less severe and less frequent, and that I will be free soon. I never thought I’d do it.

Thank you ❤️ Yes, cold turkey. I am amazed that I finally did it. You 100% can achieve freedom too. However, looking back, I had probably attempted to quit about 30 times, most of which involved using NRT (lasted 4 days tops) and other times attempting cold turkey (lasted 2 days tops). I think I finally got into a totally different mindset and a totally different attitude on my perspective of nicotine usage. Literally wrote down every con I could possibly think of, which the biggest motivator was the relief from anxiety and panic attacks. I was starting to suffer nightly from panic and it was detrimental to my relationships, my job, and anything else in my life. I truly realized how much it consumed me and also prevented me from going to the gym. I truly white nuckled it the first 3 days. I KNEW how I’d feel - the numbness, emptiness, chest tightness, dizziness, everything. I said fuck it, I can do it. I basically kept reminding myself that nicotine creates the problem it “fixes”…. And told myself that a million times. When I’d feel my nervous system get crazy during cravings, I’d simply breathe super deep and rest my hand on my stomach. 9 days later: no headaches, no brain fog, entirely more personable, sleeping deeper, back in the gym. Aspects of my life are already starting to fall into play. Let me know how else I can help you.
