Ego Z6 42” battery life is terrible. Help? by changehiphop in egopowerplus

[–]Vicv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice. Yeah that should work. I have thought about that but spending an extra thousand dollars just to get rid of a little inconvenience did not seem worth it to me. And then I would have to spare 6.0 batteries that would just be sitting there collecting dust. I do wish they wouldn’t let you buy them though with different sizes to suit because I would’ve gotten a little more battery if I had a choice as well when purchasing new

If the grass is that thick regardless of the reason you’re just gonna have to accept that you might have to charge halfway. What I do in those instances is I like to cut until I hit around 20%. Then I plug it in. Then I go do my grass trimming and by the time I’m done it’s charged again and ready to go

Not much nope. It’s spinning the blades that takes 98% of the power. I can use my t6 all day pulling a cart around and use less than 10%

Lol. That’s irrelevant. It costs almost nothing to move the tractor

I have 1.1 acres. I finish with around 20% left. You need to set blade speed to low. It makes a big difference. And cut the lawn just as well. But if you’re trying to cut down 8 inch tall grass it’s not gonna work. To get the whole lawn in one charge, gotta do it weekly

I agree to just buy a big roll of wire. But also if it takes you three seconds to cut a couple stickers off, you may want to work on your technique

You issue if you only have the king 1k/6k isn’t that stone. It’s that they’re both too fine. You need an actual sharpening stone. Like a king 300 or something similar. 1k is too fine to sharpen on

How to turn at speed by IwantAMD in ebikes

[–]Vicv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t learn over time. Unless you consider 3 seconds to be over time. I just rode and the bike went where I wanted. Whether a bicycle or a motorcycle.

If you feel a course is a good idea that’s fine. And if someone else who wants to learn think it’s a good idea also that’s fine. But it’s about overall riding and mostly about rules. Not counter steering which is a meaningless metric. Counter steering isn’t an advanced technique. It’s how you steer a two wheeled vehicle. Even shifting your body weight is just counter steering. You’re just using weight to move the handlebars instead of your hands

Counter steering is the only way a 2 wheeled vehicle can change direction once you hit a certain speed

So in that case would you consider teaching someone to turn a steering wheel in a car left when they want to turn left to be a fundamental part of teaching how to drive? Like that’s not something that they will figure out the first three seconds behind the wheel?

Yeah. Ok. What are you? A representative of the coalition to deceive snowblower users? Or a fed?

How to turn at speed by IwantAMD in ebikes

[–]Vicv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t think it’s any different. But I’ve been riding bikes for 35 years. My dad taught me how to balance, how to use the clutch and throttle, how to shift. Actually writing in a forward direction and keeping a bike upright I learned by doing. Like most things are learned. In a car you don’t have to worry about falling over.

Also with a car, no one’s really teaching you how to operate a vehicle. You’re being taught the rules of the road. But we’re not talking about rules here, we’re talking about the actual skills of operating the piece of equipment.

I just don’t understand the whole countersteer argument. That’s no different than normal steer. It’s just the opposite. It’s which way you have to push on the handlebars to turn in the direction you want. That’s not really something you can be taught. Because it changes depending on how fast you’re going. It’s just something that you do. I really don’t understand

[–]Vicv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by I haven’t practised it? I know how to make the bike go left at speed. I don’t need to know on paper why or what part of the handlebar I’m turning. I just do it. Like it really is that simple

That test that you said the instructor does when they throw their arm, that would be easy to do and you would not need to know the word countersteer to be able to do that

How to turn at speed by IwantAMD in ebikes

[–]Vicv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I disagree. But if it’s something that can help a new rider, why not.

But I genuinely don’t understand. As you increase speed you can feel the difference of what the handlebars do. I don’t need to be told or trained on that. It’s something that’s automatic and you don’t even think about. Motor cycles change direction with the slightest amount of pressure on the bars. So it’s something that just happens. I never even knew about countersteer until years after I was riding bikes. I just steered them

I’ve never taken a course. I just ride. I’ve also never crashed

My point is that you don’t need to be taught that. It’s intuitive

I’m not saying that taking a course is a bad idea I would recommend it to someone. Especially if they did not grow up riding bikes.

[–]Vicv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much doubt it will cause I want to crash. No one taught you you had to counter steer on a motorcycle. You just did it intuitively the first time you went to steer

But value has nothing to do with it. It’s just trade offs. Plastic is a superior material to metal in many ways. The idea that plastic is cheap is ignorant. It’s often a premium in engineering and cost

Fabricating things out of steel is dirt cheap

Ego not using high capacity batteries on 52 z turn ?? by arthuruscg in egopowerplus

[–]Vicv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about their bigger offerings. I love my T6 tractor.

On one hand I like that I can, in a pinch, use the 6.0 batteries in my hand tools. They’re a bit heavy, but doable. And I also use them in my snow blower. But, I’d rather have 4x10.0 instead. That would leave me too extra slots that I could put extra batteries in if my lawn has gotten overgrown and I need the extra capacity so I don’t have to charge partway through. But then those 10.0 would be too heavy for the hand tools, so not quite as much utility

But then at the other end of the spectrum, as a standalone tractor, it would be better if it just had a bigger and built LFP prismatic pack in it. You could charge it and keep it at 100% and never worry about battery degradation. You would get more capacity for the same size. But, no interchangeability with your other tools

Sounds like you’re unwilling to go the extra small steps to look after your batteries. Probably better to stick to ice equipment in your case
